Community action after community dream on vocational skills in Philippines

I was introduced to CLCP by Sirinate during a Constellation's partnership with WorldFish in Philippines.

I work with  Department of Science & Technology VIII. One area of my work is Community Empowerment through Science and Technology. It is program of DOST. We continue to facilitate the CLCP in all our identified Community Empowerment through Science and Technology (CEST) communities. This is to ensure that DOST's assistance will have an impact in the communities. As a result, communities planned to develop vocational skills, to make use of their resources. On November 6-7, 2019 a training on ginger candy (hard and soft candies) processing, and awareness..... The training was facilitated by the Industrial Technology Development Institute (ITDI) of the DOST.

What value does CLCP bring to our programme?

CLCP in DOST is a means or tool in identifying what assistance to extend to the community.DOST and other govt agencies give assistance based on the dream of the community. For example in identifying the Concerns, Opportunities and Strengths, the community will say that they have abundant ginger and low price. They dreamed to have a ginger processing plant where they can process their ginger into "salabat" and candy. So the DOST gave them equipment and training. The local government gave them processing plant.It is the same process in other communities

Upcoming trainings on CLCP in Philippines

1. On Nov. 30, 2019, I will condut a Trainers' Training on SALTe/CLCP at the Southern Leyte State University (SLSU), Sogod, Southern Leyte. The SLSU will adapt the CLCP in their extension program.
2. This coming December 2019 with SLSU, I  will conduct a CLCP training in one community/barangay of Bontoc, Southern Leyte.
