In facilitating groups, we often enter with a plan in hand, expecting everything to unfold seamlessly. Yet, as reality would have it, life rarely adheres to such linear paths. Groups and Communities, like life itself, are dynamic and unpredictable.

So, what then is our role as outsiders in these ecosystems? Laura Simms has been guiding us through sessions on SALT  and storytelling, shedding light on this very question.

Takeaway from our first session
First, upon stepping into a group or community, we become integral parts of the system. As SALT facilitators, we cannot be neutral  or detached. Instead, we must embrace our own biases and assumptions while remaining fully present to deeply listen to others.

Second, our role is not to impose preconceived outcomes, but rather to facilitate conversations that foster genuine connection. Onaiza beautifully expressed the feeling of oneness during an authentic conversation.
Facilitators are in the game, choreographing without a script, navigating the dance with the participants. This journey as co-travellers guides us towards deep connection and collective growth.

Nice writing.  I completely agree with what the second former said about the results.
