A Day of Learning: My Experience at the BRED Knowledge Fair 2025 in Pabna - একটি শেখায় ভরা দিন: পাবনার BRED Knowledge Fair 2025 থেকে আমার অভিজ্ঞতা

The morning of October 25 was wrapped in the freshness of dawn. As the Alokito Kori team, we set out for Nakalia Manzur Kader Degree College in Bera, Pabna, to attend the BRED Knowledge Fair 2025.
It wasn’t just an event — it was a living example of how people are transforming their lives with their own hands, and how learning can unite entire communities.

The journey began with a deep sense of responsibility. I was in charge of ensuring everyone’s safety, comfort, and timely arrival. I got into the car first — not just out of routine, but to make sure everyone, especially the women in our team, could travel securely and at ease. Our group included Monira apa, Sadman bhai, Selim bhai, Afsana apa,Priya apa, Throughout the entire journey, Priya Apa’s contribution was invaluable. With her songs and stories, she captivated us so deeply that I didn’t even realize how quickly time passed. And a few other familiar faces from our Alokito Kori family.
Together, we weren’t just traveling to a fair — we were stepping into a shared space of learning, reflection, and inspiration.

🌾 A Different Kind of Community

After nearly six hours on the road, we finally reached Pabna — greeted by endless green fields, the calm river, and warm, smiling faces.
The college grounds felt festive, but this wasn’t a festival of entertainment; it was a celebration of initiative, effort, and transformation.

BRED community members were confidently presenting their stories — tales of courage, compassion, and creativity. Some had repaired local roads, some cared for the elderly, others taught swimming to children, and a few had even developed low-cost water filters.
Every story reflected love for their community and a deep sense of responsibility — proof that change begins when people believe in their own potential.

👩‍🏫 Our Afsana Apa: A Beautiful Example of Learning and Sharing

One of the most meaningful aspects of the day for our team was that, for the first time, we brought along one of our community members — Afsana apa — to participate and share her own story.
She wasn’t there as a visitor; she was there as a voice of change. She shared how she helps children learn to read, engages them in traditional games, and organizes “grandparent storytelling” sessions to reduce screen time and build family connection.

Her confidence and enthusiasm reminded me that learning isn’t limited to books — it’s about helping people rediscover their inner strength.
Often, we tend to see community members as beneficiaries, but Afsana apa showed that they are, in fact, leaders — planting the seeds of transformation in their own spaces.

🌿 Moments That Will Stay With Me

There were three moments from the day that truly touched my heart.

First, a child with a physical disability recited a poem on stage. The hall fell completely silent — not out of pity, but respect. Everyone’s eyes were filled with admiration. That was true inclusion — where every person is valued equally.

Second, when Humaira apa noticed I hadn’t had a chance to speak, she gently encouraged me to share our school-level initiatives so that the students could learn from our experience.
That small act of thoughtfulness meant a lot to me. It showed how real leadership is not about speaking the most — it’s about making sure no one is left unheard.

Third, I was deeply inspired by how the BRED team integrates community voices into their programs. The performances by children weren’t random; they were based on stories identified during SALT conversations.
This intentional way of amplifying community strengths is, to me, the most authentic form of empowerment.

💚 What I Learned

We also shared our own experiences — how Alokito Kori and GYRF are working together in Narayanganj and Munshiganj.
Selim bhai talked about the Pahariyapara School initiative, while Monira apa and Afsana Mim apa spoke about the Hijlipara community.

I noticed that when we shared our stories, they didn’t just listen — they felt them.
It became a truly reciprocal learning space, where no one was a teacher and no one was a student — everyone was learning from one another.

🌸 Final Reflections

The BRED Knowledge Fair reminded me that community development isn’t just about projects — it’s about people and the heart behind the work.
Seeing people’s strengths, valuing their stories, and giving them space to express — these three things are, I believe, the true foundation of transformation.

I am deeply grateful to my Alokito Kori team for standing by one another throughout the journey, and to BRED for creating such a space of learning and belonging.
A special thanks to Monira apa, Selim bhai, and Afsana apa — your presence made this day even more meaningful.
It was a day full of stories, inspiration, and hope — one I will carry with me for a long time.

২৫ অক্টোবর সকালটা ছিল একদম ভোরের শিশিরে মোড়া। আলোকিত করি টিম হিসেবে আমরা রওনা হয়েছিলাম পাবনার বেড়ার নাকালিয়া মনজুর কাদের ডিগ্রি কলেজের উদ্দেশ্যে—BRED আয়োজিত Knowledge Fair 2025-এ যোগ দিতে। এটি কেবল একটি মেলা ছিল না; বরং একদিনের জন্য হলেও, আমরা প্রত্যক্ষ করেছি কিভাবে মানুষ নিজেদের হাতে নিজেদের জীবন বদলে নিচ্ছে, আর শেখা কিভাবে কমিউনিটিকে একত্রিত করতে পারে।

সকালের যাত্রাটা শুরু হয়েছিল অনেক দায়িত্ব নিয়ে। পুরো দলের নিরাপত্তা, আরামের ব্যবস্থা আর সময়মতো গন্তব্যে পৌঁছানোর দায়িত্ব আমার ওপর ছিল। গাড়িতে প্রথমে উঠেছিলাম এই ভেবে—সবাই যেন নিশ্চিন্তে, নিরাপদে ভ্রমণ করতে পারে। দলের সদস্যদের মধ্যে ছিলেন মনিরা আপা, সাদমান ভাই, সেলিম ভাই, আফসানা আপা,প্রিয়া আপা, পুরো যাত্রায় প্রিয়া আপার অবদান ছিল অপরিসীম। গান আর গল্পে তিনি এমনভাবে মুগ্ধ করে রেখেছিলেন, যে কখন সময় কেটে গেছে, টেরই পাইনি।
এবং সাথে ছিলো আমাদের আলোকিত করি পরিবারের কয়েকজন চেনা মুখ। একসাথে আমরা শুধু একটি ফেয়ারে যাচ্ছিলাম না—যাচ্ছিলাম এক অভিজ্ঞতার পথে, যেখানে শেখা, ভাগাভাগি আর প্রেরণা মিলেমিশে একাকার।

🌾 এক অন্যরকম কমিউনিটি

ছয় ঘণ্টার দীর্ঘ পথ পেরিয়ে যখন আমরা পাবনায় পৌঁছলাম, চোখে পড়ল সবুজ ধানক্ষেত, নদীর শান্ত জল, আর মানুষের উজ্জ্বল মুখ। কলেজ প্রাঙ্গণে ঢুকতেই মনে হলো যেন এক উৎসব চলছে—কিন্তু এই উৎসবের কেন্দ্রবিন্দু ছিল মানুষের উদ্যোগ আর পরিবর্তনের গল্প।

BRED-এর কমিউনিটি সদস্যরা নিজেদের কাজ, প্রচেষ্টা আর সফলতার গল্পগুলো এমন আন্তরিকভাবে তুলে ধরছিলেন যে, মনে হচ্ছিল তারা কেবল কোনো প্রকল্পের অংশ নন—তারা একেকজন পরিবর্তনের কারিগর। কেউ রাস্তা সংস্কার করেছে, কেউ প্রবীণদের যত্ন নিচ্ছে, কেউ শিশুদের সাঁতার শেখাচ্ছে, কেউ আবার স্থানীয়ভাবে পানি ফিল্টার বানিয়ে দিচ্ছে। প্রতিটি কাজের ভেতরে ছিল নিজেদের জায়গার প্রতি ভালোবাসা আর দায়িত্ববোধের ছাপ।

👩‍🏫 আমাদের আফসানা আপা: শেখা আর ভাগ করে নেওয়ার এক সুন্দর উদাহরণ

আমাদের দলের জন্য দিনটির সবচেয়ে অর্থবহ দিক ছিল যে আমরা প্রথমবারের মতো এক কমিউনিটি মেম্বার — আফসানা আপা —কে নিয়ে অংশ নিচ্ছিলাম। তিনি শুধুমাত্র দর্শক হিসেবে যাননি; তিনি তার নিজের কাজের গল্পও শেয়ার করেছেন — কিভাবে তিনি শিশুদের পড়তে শেখান, তাদের ঐতিহ্যবাহী খেলায় যুক্ত করেন, দাদাদাদি গল্প শোনানোর আয়োজন করেন।
তার আত্মবিশ্বাস আর উচ্ছ্বাস দেখে মনে হচ্ছিল, শেখা কেবল বইয়ের বিষয় নয় — এটি হলো মানুষকে নিজের ভেতরের শক্তি খুঁজে নিতে সাহায্য করা।

এই দৃশ্যটি আমার কাছে ছিল অত্যন্ত অনুপ্রেরণামূলক। আমরা অনেক সময় কমিউনিটির মানুষকে “beneficiary” হিসেবে দেখি, কিন্তু আফসানা আপা দেখালেন — তারা আসলে “leader”, যাঁরা নিজের জায়গায় পরিবর্তনের বীজ বপন করছেন।

🌿 যে মুহূর্তগুলো মনে থেকে যাবে

দিনের নানা পর্বের মধ্যে তিনটি মুহূর্ত আমার হৃদয়ে গেঁথে গেছে।

প্রথমটি, এক প্রতিবন্ধী শিশুর কবিতা পাঠ। সেই শিশুটি যখন মঞ্চে উঠে আত্মবিশ্বাসের সঙ্গে কবিতা বলছিল, তখন পুরো হল নিঃশব্দ হয়ে গিয়েছিল। কেউ তার জন্য করুণা নয়, বরং সম্মান আর ভালোবাসা নিয়ে তাকিয়ে ছিল। এটাই তো সত্যিকারের অন্তর্ভুক্তি — যেখানে সবাই সমানভাবে মূল্যবান।

দ্বিতীয়টি, যখন হুমায়রা আপা লক্ষ্য করলেন আমি এখনও কিছু বলিনি, তিনি আন্তরিকভাবে আমাকে শেয়ার করতে অনুরোধ করলেন। তাঁর এই ছোট্ট আচরণটি আমার মনে গেঁথে গেছে। এটি শুধু সৌজন্য নয়, বরং এক দারুণ উদাহরণ — কিভাবে নেতৃত্ব মানে হলো সবাইকে জায়গা দেওয়া, কাউকে বাদ না রাখা।

তৃতীয়টি, BRED-এর টিমের কাজের ধরন। তারা কমিউনিটির গল্প শুনে সেগুলোকে প্রোগ্রামের মূল অংশ বানিয়ে ফেলেন। শিশুদের পারফরম্যান্সগুলো ছিল বাস্তব গল্পের প্রতিফলন — যা মানুষ নিজেরাই শেয়ার করেছে SALT আলাপে। এটি ছিল ক্ষমতায়নের সবচেয়ে বাস্তব রূপ।

💚 আমার শেখা 

আমরাও আমাদের অভিজ্ঞতা শেয়ার করেছি — কিভাবে “Alokito Kori” এবং “GYRF” মিলিয়ে Narayanganj ও Munshiganj-এ কাজ করছে। সেলিম ভাই পাহাড়িয়াপাড়া স্কুলের গল্প বললেন, মনিরা আপা ও আফসানা মিম আপা Hijlipara-র উদ্যোগ নিয়ে আলোচনা করলেন।
আমি লক্ষ্য করলাম, আমাদের গল্প শোনার সময় তারা শুধু শুনছিল না — অনুভব করছিল। এটি এক পারস্পরিক শেখার জায়গা হয়ে উঠেছিল, যেখানে কেউ শিক্ষক নয়, সবাই শিক্ষার্থী।

🚐 একটি নিরাপদ, যত্নময় যাত্রা

দিনের শেষে, যখন সবাই ক্লান্ত কিন্তু তৃপ্ত, আমি অনুভব করলাম এই যাত্রার সবচেয়ে বড় সফলতা হলো—আমরা একে অপরের ওপর আস্থা রাখতে শিখেছি। নিরাপদ যাত্রা, হাসিখুশি সঙ্গ, আর ভালো খাবারের আয়োজন—সব মিলিয়ে এটি শুধু একটি অফিস ট্রিপ ছিল না, বরং একটি পারিবারিক যাত্রা।

🌸 শেষ ভাবনা

BRED-এর এই ফেয়ার আমাকে শিখিয়েছে—কমিউনিটি ডেভেলপমেন্ট কেবল প্রকল্পের কাজ নয়, এটি হৃদয়ের কাজ। মানুষের ভেতরের শক্তিকে দেখা, তার গল্পকে মূল্য দেওয়া, এবং তাকে প্রকাশের সুযোগ দেওয়া—এই তিনটি বিষয়ই আসলে পরিবর্তনের মূল চাবিকাঠি।
