সল্টের মাধ্যমে করণ হরিজনের জীবনে অনুপ্রেরণার এক অসাধারণ পরিবর্তন

আমি মনিষা দাস, আশীর্বাদ অর্গানাইজেশনের একজন গর্বিত ফ্যাসিলিটেটর। কমিউনিটিতে যখন প্রথম সল্ট কনভারসেশনের জন্য গিয়েছিলাম, তখন এলাকাটা আমার কাছে ছিল একেবারেই নতুন ও অন্যরকম। মানুষ, পরিবেশ—সব কিছু যেন অপরিচিত লাগছিল। কিন্তু ধীরে ধীরে যখন সবার সঙ্গে কথা বলতে শুরু করলাম, হাসিমুখে তাদের জীবনের গল্প শুনলাম, তখন এক অদ্ভুত বন্ধন তৈরি হলো।

এখন মনে হয়, এ যেন আমার নিজেরই একটি পরিবার। এমনও হয় যে, একদিন যদি এলাকায় না যাই, পরদিন মানুষজন ভালোবাসা নিয়ে জিজ্ঞেস করে—

“আপনাকে দেখি নাই গত কাল

এই ছোট ছোট ভালোবাসার মুহূর্তগুলোই আমার কাজের প্রতি আগ্রহ ও অনুপ্রেরণাকে আরও বাড়িয়ে দেয়।

সল্ট কনভারসেশনের এমনই এক দিনে আমার পরিচয় হয় করণ হরিজন নামের এক তরুণ ছেলের সঙ্গে। তার বয়স মাত্র ১৬ বছর, নবম শ্রেণির ছাত্র— কিন্তু এই ছোট বয়সেই সে তার এলাকায় প্রশংসার দাবিদার হয়ে উঠেছে।

করণের সঙ্গে প্রথম আলাপেই বুঝতে পারি, তার মধ্যে আছে এক অদম্য ইচ্ছাশক্তি এবং সমাজের জন্য কিছু করার প্রবল আকাঙ্ক্ষা।

করণ নিয়মিত তার বন্ধুদের নিয়ে এলাকার গলিগুলো পরিষ্কার রাখে। কেউ বিপদে পড়লে, দিন-রাত না ভেবে ছুটে যায় সাহায্যের জন্য। এত অল্প বয়সে তার এই দায়িত্ববোধ সত্যিই অবাক করে। সমাজের প্রতি তার এই ভালোবাসা ও নিবেদন তাকে অন্যদের চোখে এক উদাহরণ হিসেবে তুলে ধরেছে।

করণ শুধু সমাজের জন্য নয়, নিজের পরিবারের প্রতিও সমান যত্নশীল। সল্ট কনভারসেশনের সময় জানতে পারি— সে খুব সুন্দরভাবে কাপড়ের কাজ করতে পারে, নিজের হাতে শো-পিস তৈরি করে। নিজের পরিশ্রমের প্রথম উপার্জিত টাকা দিয়ে সে তার মায়ের জন্য একটি কাপড় কিনে দিয়েছিল।

তার চোখে তখন এক অনন্য আনন্দের ঝিলিক ছিল, যা আমাকে গভীরভাবে ছুঁয়ে গিয়েছিল।

সবচেয়ে বড় বিষয় হলো— করণের বাবা একসময় মাদকাসক্ত ছিলেন। কিন্তু এই ছোট ছেলেটিই সাহস নিয়ে বাবার সঙ্গে খোলামেলা কথা বলে, ধীরে ধীরে তাকে সেই আসক্তি থেকে দূরে আনতে সক্ষম হয়।

এই ঘটনাটি আমার হৃদয়ে এক গভীর ছাপ ফেলেছে। আমি বুঝতে পারলাম, পরিবর্তন শুরু হয় একান্ত ইচ্ছা ও ভালোবাসা থেকে— আর করণ সেই জীবন্ত উদাহরণ।

করণের গল্প শুনে আমার নিজের মধ্যেও যেন নতুন এক দায়িত্ববোধের জন্ম হলো। মনে হলো, সমাজের প্রতিটি মানুষই নিজের জায়গা থেকে কিছু না কিছু করতে পারে, যদি তার মনে থাকে ভালোবাসা, সাহস আর ইতিবাচক চিন্তা।

আজ করণ হরিজনের গল্প শুধু একটি অনুপ্রেরণার গল্প নয়— এটি আমাদের শেখায়, যে কোনো বয়সেই পরিবর্তন সম্ভব, যদি হৃদয়ে থাকে দৃঢ় ইচ্ছা আর মানবতার আলো |

I am Monisha Das, a proud facilitator of the Aashirbad Organization. When I first went to the community for a SALT conversation, everything felt completely new and different to me — the people, the environment, the atmosphere — all seemed unfamiliar.

But gradually, as I started talking to everyone and listening to their life stories with a smile, a special bond began to form,

Now it feels like this community has become my own family. There are days when, if I don’t visit the area, people lovingly ask me the next day —

"We didn’t see you yesterday!"

These little moments of love and connection inspire me deeply and make my work even more meaningful.

During one such SALT conversation, I met a young boy named Karan Horizon. He is only 16 years old, a ninth-grade student — yet at such a young age, he has already earned great admiration in his community.

From my very first conversation with him, I could sense his strong determination and his deep desire to do something positive for society.

Karan regularly gathers his friends to keep the neighborhood streets clean. Whenever someone is in trouble, he rushes to help — day or night. His sense of responsibility at such a young age is truly remarkable.

His love and dedication toward his community have made him a role model for others.

Karan is not only devoted to society but also deeply caring toward his family. During our conversation, I learned that he is very skilled in making fabric crafts and showpieces. With his first earnings, he bought a saree for his mother — a simple act, yet filled with immense love.

I could see pure joy and pride shining in his eyes at that moment, and it touched my heart deeply.

The most inspiring part of Karan’s story is about his father — who was once addicted to drugs. But this young boy, with immense courage and love, had open conversations with his father and slowly helped him come out of that addiction.

This incident left a lasting impression on me. I realized that true change begins with genuine intention and love, and Karan is a living example of that truth.

Listening to Karan’s story awakened a new sense of responsibility within me as well. I felt that every individual can make a difference in their own way — all it takes is love, courage, and a positive mindset.

Today, Karan Horizon’s story is not just a story of inspiration — it teaches us that change is possible at any age, as long as the heart carries the light of determination and humanity.
