Le Pont du Tamarinier is an 'equal opportunity for people' NGO operating in the Rivier Noir district. The focus is two-tiered, first is to support the acquisition of houses as the step towards having a home and second mobilization of the people within the community to address their social threats to reduce risk and vulnerability of families especially youths. The goal is social and economic inclusion into society.
The first of the two phased approach is achieved mostly with government's support as part of a national programme. The second and probably most challenging is intended to be achieved with support from Corporate Social Responsibility funding.
On learning about SALT, the NGO wanted to taste SALT. This opportunity became possible at the invitation of Constellation during its engagement with the Drug Platform in Mauritius during a SALT visit of Etoile d'Espérance to Lalmattie. That experience resulted in the decision to engage communities LPDT works with using SALT. The inspiration went further to build the capacity of its human capital with the 'spirit' of SALT, resulting in this learning experience over three days. The dream was to cultivate the 'spirit' of SALT of staff and some members of the three communities, mostly youth.

Le Pont du Tamarinier est une ONG opérant pour l’«égalité des chances des personnes » dans le district Rivière Noire. Son activité repose sur deux axes : le premier est le soutien à l'acquisition de logement et deuxième est la mobilisation des membres de la communauté pour faire face aux menaces sociales et réduire les risques et la vulnérabilité des familles, en particulier des jeunes. L'objectif est l'inclusion sociale et économique dans la société.
Le premier axe est concrétisé avec le soutien du gouvernement dans le cadre d'un programme national. Le deuxième, et probablement le plus difficile, repose sur la contribution des entreprises aux enjeux du développement durable.
Ayant découvert SALT, l'ONG a voulu en savoir plus. Une occasion s’est présentée à l'invitation de Constellation lors de son engagement avec la plate-forme de lutte contre la drogue à Maurice, et plus précisément lors d'une visite SALT de l'Etoile d'Espérance à Lalmattie. Suite à cette expérience, LPDT a décidé d’utiliser SALT dans son travail avec les communautés. Inspirée par la manière de penser et d’agir SALT, l’ONG a fait la demande d’une formation de trois jours pour aller plus loin et renforcer les capacités de son capital humain. L’idée était de cultiver la façon de penser SALT dans un groupe composé des membres du personnel et de certains membres des trois communautés, des jeunes pour la plupart.
