At Pattimura University (Unpatty) in Ambon, Indonesia, learning and wisdom is not restricted to the campus. A group of dedicated professors is committed to make their living environment a clean and peaceful one in their kampung (village), Rumah Tiga. For this team, solutions won’t come from other parts of Indonesia. “We are small islands, far away from Java, with no waste systems in place yet. The thread is twofold: the waste that enters the beaches on our islands via the sea and our own consumption, and our way of dealing with waste. We will have to figure out our own local solution.”
It is beautiful to see how, in the group, every member knows his or her strength: “Here is where I can contribute to our collective vision.”
