Thanks, Jan, for reminding us about that trip to the villages in Nepal. The work that Mac and Marcia Odell had done there some years before was impressive, and the way the groups had developed over the years was so impressive. Starting smal...l by contributing whatever they could such as some rice led years later to lending each other money or setting up ambulance services to take women from the villages to hospital when they were ready to give birth. So many inspiring examples where good will, careful community planning and individual responsibility delivered something wonderful.

Anand Chaudhuri Rituu, South Asia is full of such examples of home grown wisdom which became mass movements....Grameen Bank in Bangladesh, microcredit and microfinance women SHGs in India.....

This picture was taken when visiting some villages in Nepal - Chitwan area - after the world appreciative inquiry conference 2009 in Nepal was held. Their testimony during the conference itself about how they manage to create their own woma...ns village bank, inspired a group of participants to actually visit them in their village. Malcolm Odell and his wife Marcia Odell facilitated a workshop there and then with the wifes of different villages.

Thanks Jan. Love this photo. Dream building is the most uplifting exercise in community life competence process. Will share some examples.

After the World Appreciative Inquiry conference in Nepal (2009) we visited some villages in the Nepal Chitwan area where women run their own village bank. Our meeting turned into a little workshop whereby they were asked to draw their dreams on big papers.
