Autry as a Professional Social Work Practitioner I am concerned about the myriad of Social Problems you and Team have uncovered; however, my questions are did you report the cases of Incest to the Child Care and Protection Agency? Incest is a crime according to the new Sexual Offences Act and should be reported upon discovery! Have you made efforts to contact the School's Welfare Department of the Ministry of Education as it relates to the 'school drop-outs? There are remedial programmes for these persons. Teenage Pregnancy is a significant social problem in Guyana and the wider Caribbean; however, I am interested to know if all the Teens who are pregnant are above the age of consent which is 16 years in Guyana.If they are under 16 years then Statutory Rape has been committed and it is a Crime! Please report Crimes if you have information and evidence to support such a report; lives will be Saved!!!!

Action Plan towards local ownership

Emanating from the Community Life Competence training, Mainstay, an Amerindian village identified [1] school drop-out, [2] alcohol and drug abuse, [3] teenage pregnancy, [4] incest and [5] STIs, including HIV as major concerns / threats (see pic above)under the practice Identify and address vulnerability. The participants have taken ownership as a Local Response. An awareness session was held with parents from the village. On the 2nd December 2010 an activity was held with 31 parents to help them understand their role in the ownership process and develop local response from them in terms of their contribution towards reducing risk and vulnerability. The focus of the activity was school drop-outs, alcohol and drug abuse and STIs.

This one day activity of local response was in response to that community’s dream of a competent community being:[1] god fearing;[2] living healthy lifestyle; [3] well educated people; [4] have good job opportunities; [5] and improved infrastructure.

This is the first step in that community taking ownership and responding. The next step is engaging youths who are considered to be vulnerable to the threats identified above, within that community.

JOURNEE INTERNATIONALE DU SIDA AU GROUPE SCOLAIRE MISSION DE LA CREATION (GSMC /BANSAMBI) MBUJIMAYI – RDCONGO
1ER DECEMBRE 2010

 l’information comme celle qui est en train d’être fait par les enfants élèves à l’ occasion de JMS ;
 la connaissance des effets négatifs du tabou ;
 L’intégration dans le programme scolaire des leçons sur le SIDA ;
 L’existante d’un club santé et culturel à l’école qui mobilise la communauté éducative par les chansons, sketch, causeries éducatives, poèmes etc.… sur le SIDA.
 La présence d’une école ou comme celle-ci qui nous éveille ;
 La survenue des cas de maladie ou de décès dans une famille avoisinante qui suscite le débat ;

 Stimuler les causeries en famille a partir des événements vécus au travail, en classe ou dans le quartier ;
 Introduire lors des réunions du comité des parents d’élèves des sujets sur le SIDA et la santé sexuelle et reproductive ;
 Inviter les parents à assister aux restitutions et autres manifestations réaliser par les eleves a l’école en rapport avec le VIH.SIDA et la santé sexuelle ;
Visiter les malades du SIDA a l’hôpital

Dear NAMARA ARTHUR ARAALI
Great work. You demonstrated the practice of the theme of WAD for the current year 'Access to Care, human rights-Aware and Act'. Voluntary testing is the best way of preventing HIV. As every person who knows his/her HIV status is most likely to stop the infection with him. Wishes for the good health of those 8 members, take care of them.

Dear Members,
Yesterday we concluded our World AIDS Day celebrations, at the landing site as I indicated in my last comment. Yesterday we managed as HENU to test 60 community members where 52 were HIV negative and 8 members HIV positive. We shall follow up these communities to empower them further
Marry Xmass to all of you and Happy New year - 2011.
I believe together we can make a difference

I believe that must be a way to celebrate AIDS world day by doing such a meaningfull and monumentous among general population or less risk population. And AHHAA....I found that opportunity.

UNFPA in collaboration with West Java Provincial Educatio Office conducted master trainer training for Adolescent REproductive Health (ARH) inclusion at school curricula. Such a "barinstroming" took place among programatic stakeholders with the partcipants. Some adjustment, revised unserstanding, new concern and belives on ARH related issues including AIDS were discussed. At the end the 18 powerfull and commited teachers developed guidline for teacher, modul for students on independent leearning on ARH issues, collection of materials and template of teaching manual and steps of teaching are fully developed.

At the last day, Lucy and Linda, UNFPA field staffs, were introducing and promoting SALT as WoT and WoW and CLCP to make those four products implemented at schools level. We also informed them that it's also our response on World AIDS day celebration. (most of them did not know about this, I was happy that I contributed to make them recognize this celebration). We as a community acted by developing our dream and show our mapped our strenghts, concern and commitment.

Dina - a teacher of civic education admitted that as a teacher she cares of her life, she loves her students just like they are her own. She want by salty way share her new understanding on AIDS and ARH related issues start from her family, house, neigbouringhood and shools. Abdul Kodir said that, SALT will be our effective means of promoting and teaching ARH to our students without being judgemental. He confessed sometimes its not easy as a teacher not to teach and to jugdge. This approach is the simplest and core of counceling principle fostering at education realm.

I just newly accept sms from one of participant, Wardai. He said that at monday ceremony at school he shared about AIDS and ARH related issues to all ceremony participant. He also played movies on AIDS transmission and testimony from PLWH. He shared his point to his students and collegues that from classroom we can be infected by HIV but than from clasroom aslo we can act...

I really proud of them and looking forward to others sms and nitification that there will be another community act reaponding AIDS and ARH related issues at formal education/schools. I testify that CAD encourages community more strenghts and commitment to act on AIDS and ARH related issues.

Dear Colleagues,
Thank you for keeping the candle burning and making CAD a reality. Yesterday we had an outreach to one of the landing sites of Nakiwogo in Entebbe Municipality as part of a series of activities to mark the World AIDS Day. With the support of the local leaders members of the community were mobilised to come for Voluntary HIV counselling and testing. Community members organised for this activity at a nearby St. Stevens Church. I was humbled by the spirit of volunteer-ism depicted by members of the community. A total number of 35 community members were tested 17 males and 18 females. All of them turned out to be HIV negative. One of the ladies who introduced herself as a market vender requested HENU to visit the market where she works to extend the service there. She told us that they have leadership who would like to be trained to help others. We shall plan that outreach soon.
Today the 1st of December 2010, a group of 10 HENU Counsellor volunteers have joined other members of wakiso district and the community in the match to celebrate the World AIDS day. We shall also offer free VCT services to community members who will turn up for this event. The Main celebrations are at Kasenyi Landing site where research is showing the HIV prevalence rate to be at 26%!!!!! We would have appended activity photos on this report but we do not have digital comera so the photos will be ready in a few days and definitely we shall share them with you.
