At ECDO, our mission revolves around uplifting the most marginalized within ethnic communities, including groups like the Patro community and tea garden laborers. However, we recognize that the concept of community-led initiatives is still relatively new, and many individuals within these communities may not fully grasp their own strengths. It will take time for them to rediscover and harness these strengths effectively.
As an organization, embracing the SALT (Stimulate, Appreciate, Learn, Transfer) approach demands a significant shift in our operational mindset. We understand that facilitating community-led systemic change requires patience, dedication, and a willingness to relinquish some control. Therefore, I propose that we approach this transition gradually.
Currently, ECDO is actively addressing the challenges faced by these communities. However, our ultimate goal is for them to take ownership of their issues and spearhead their own solutions. This shift in perspective will not happen overnight, but with perseverance and commitment, we can guide these communities towards self-empowerment and sustainable change.
Tasnim's insights shed light on the transformative potential of individual belief and empowerment within communities. When each member begins to believe in the possibility of change and recognizes their own strengths, the foundation for community-led initiatives is laid. Ms. Tasnim Chodhury eloquently illustrates this point by drawing parallels with personal growth – true change starts from within.
In essence, ECDO's journey towards community-led change is a collaborative effort. By fostering belief, recognizing strengths, and gradually transferring ownership to the communities themselves, we can pave the way for meaningful and lasting transformation. As Tasnim aptly puts it, "Change starts from the self." It is through this collective realization and action that we can create a brighter future for all.
