Some weekends become more than just a break from our routine; they become opportunities for both personal refreshment and meaningful learning. Spending time in a peaceful and refreshing environment allowed us to recharge ourselves while engaging in important discussions on safeguarding training. It was a truly weekend filled with both relaxation and valuable insights, reminding us that growth happens not only through work but also through reflection, learning and shared experiences.
Before attending this training, I had heard and explore about safeguarding policies and but never had the opportunity to discuss about the CWSN’s Safeguarding policy with the team. During these two days, all participants actively engaged in discussions, shared experiences, and learned together like one family. It was an interactive process where everyone felt comfortable expressing their thoughts and opinions.
One of the most important lessons I learned was that safeguarding is not only about appreciating and promoting good practices. It is also about recognizing that harmful situations, misconduct, or risks can occur in any organization. What matters is having clear policies and safe procedures in place to respond appropriately. This understanding reminded me that safeguarding is everyone's responsibility, while working in social sector. As a social worker, working in the community, we often focus on delivering quality services. However, this training encouraged us to reflect on whether we are creating a truly safe environment for children, communities, colleagues, and ourselves. The discussions on risk identification, reporting and response mechanisms helped us understand how to minimize potential harm while carrying out our work effectively. Another meaningful part of the training was we discussed on some cases, from different projects and explored ways to prevent risks before they grow into serious concerns. Towards the end of the training, we reflected on the strengths of CWSN as an organization. Listening to the contributions and achievements of our team filled me with pride and appreciation. It reminded me of how much dedication and hard work have gone into building a strong foundation for the organization.
This training was not only an opportunity to revise policies but also a valuable learning experience that strengthened our collective commitment to safeguarding. I left the training with increased awareness, practical knowledge, and a deeper sense of responsibility towards ensuring the safety and well-being of everyone we serve.
I feel truly proud and blessed to be part of CWSN, an organization that continuously strives to learn, improve, and create a safer environment for the staffs, volunteers, beneficiaries and the communities it works.
