বুড়িগোয়ালিনী কমিউনিটিতে পুষ্টিবাগান এখন শুধু সবজি চাষের একটি উদ্যোগ নয়; এটি পরিবারের পুষ্টি নিশ্চিত করা, খাদ্য নিরাপত্তা বৃদ্ধি এবং অতিরিক্ত আয়ের একটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ মাধ্যম হিসেবে প্রতিষ্ঠিত হয়েছে। তবে এই সফলতার পথে সবচেয়ে বড় চ্যালেঞ্জগুলোর একটি ছিল শুকনো মৌসুমে সেচের জন্য পর্যাপ্ত পানির ব্যবস্থা করা।
এলাকার অধিকাংশ পুষ্টিবাগান পুকুর বা জলাশয় থেকে কিছুটা দূরে অবস্থিত। ফলে প্রতিদিন প্রয়োজনীয় পানি সংগ্রহ করে বাগানে পৌঁছে দেওয়া ছিল সময়সাপেক্ষ, পরিশ্রমসাধ্য এবং ব্যয়বহুল। অনেক ক্ষেত্রেই এই কষ্টসাধ্য প্রক্রিয়ার কারণে নিয়মিত সেচ দেওয়া সম্ভব হতো না, যা বাগানের উৎপাদনকে প্রভাবিত করত।
এই বাস্তব সমস্যার একটি কার্যকর ও স্বল্পব্যয়ী সমাধান খুঁজে বের করেন কমিউনিটির সদস্য রুহিত। স্থানীয়ভাবে সহজলভ্য একটি ড্রাম এবং কয়েকটি পাইপ ব্যবহার করে তিনি একটি সহজ সেচ ব্যবস্থা তৈরি করেন। পুকুরের পাশে ড্রামে পানি সংরক্ষণ করে পাইপের মাধ্যমে সেই পানি প্রয়োজন অনুযায়ী দূরের পুষ্টিবাগান পর্যন্ত পৌঁছে দেওয়া হয়। এতে বারবার পানি বহনের প্রয়োজন পড়ে না এবং অল্প সময় ও কম শ্রমে সহজেই বাগানে সেচ দেওয়া সম্ভব হয়।
রুহিতের এই উদ্ভাবনী উদ্যোগ খুব দ্রুত কমিউনিটির অন্যান্য সদস্যদের দৃষ্টি আকর্ষণ করে। তার ব্যবহৃত পদ্ধতির কার্যকারিতা দেখে অনেক পরিবার একই ব্যবস্থা গ্রহণ করেছে। ফলে শ্রম ও সময় সাশ্রয়ের পাশাপাশি পুষ্টিবাগানের নিয়মিত পরিচর্যা নিশ্চিত হচ্ছে, যা সবজির উৎপাদন বৃদ্ধি এবং পরিবারের পুষ্টি নিরাপত্তা জোরদারে ইতিবাচক ভূমিকা রাখছে।
এই উদ্যোগটি দেখিয়ে দেয়, স্থানীয় মানুষের জ্ঞান, অভিজ্ঞতা ও উদ্ভাবনী চিন্তাকে গুরুত্ব দিলে অল্প খরচেই বাস্তব সমস্যার টেকসই সমাধান সম্ভব। রুহিতের এই ছোট্ট উদ্ভাবন শুধু একটি সেচ ব্যবস্থা নয়; এটি কমিউনিটির মধ্যে শেখা, অনুকরণ এবং স্থানীয় উদ্ভাবনকে ছড়িয়ে দেওয়ার একটি অনুপ্রেরণাদায়ক ।

In the Burigoalini community, nutrition gardens have become more than just a vegetable-growing initiative. They now play a vital role in improving household nutrition, strengthening food security, and creating opportunities for additional income. However, one of the biggest challenges to sustaining these gardens has been ensuring an adequate water supply during the dry season.
Most nutrition gardens in the area are located some distance away from ponds or other water sources. As a result, collecting and carrying water to the gardens every day was time-consuming, physically demanding, and costly. In many cases, this difficult process prevented regular irrigation, ultimately affecting vegetable growth and productivity.
Recognizing this challenge, community member Ruhit developed a simple, practical, and low-cost solution. Using a locally available water drum and a few pipes, he designed an innovative irrigation system. Water is stored in a drum placed near the pond and then delivered through pipes to nutrition gardens located farther away. This eliminates the need to carry water repeatedly, making irrigation faster, less labor-intensive, and more efficient.
Ruhit's innovative approach quickly attracted the attention of other community members. After witnessing the effectiveness of the system, many households adopted the same method. As a result, they have reduced the time and labor required for irrigation while ensuring regular maintenance of their nutrition gardens. This has contributed to increased vegetable production and improved household nutrition security.
This initiative demonstrates that practical and sustainable solutions can emerge from local knowledge, experience, and creativity. Ruhit's simple innovation is more than just an irrigation system—it is an inspiring example of how community-driven innovation can encourage learning, replication, and the adoption of locally developed solutions to address everyday challenges.

 Initially, Ruhit Das was the only one using this innovative irrigation system in his nutrition garden. Later, during a group SALT (Support, Appreciate, Learn and Transfer) session on challenges faced in nutrition gardening, participants identified irrigation as a common problem. Carrying water repeatedly in pitchers was time-consuming and physically demanding for everyone.
Ruhit then shared his innovative irrigation method with the group, which attracted great interest. After the session, the participants visited his garden to see the system in action and were impressed by its simplicity and effectiveness. Inspired by the idea, some asked Ruhit to help them build the system, while others constructed it themselves after learning the technique. As a result, many households have now overcome their irrigation challenges, making nutrition garden maintenance much easier. Six people have started.The others are also trying to purchase equipment.

The SALT session provided a platform for community members to identify their common irrigation challenges and learn from one another. During the discussion, Ruhit Das shared his innovative irrigation system, which inspired other participants. After seeing the system in his nutrition garden, many adopted the idea with Ruhit's guidance or built it themselves. As a result, several households overcame their irrigation challenges through a locally led solution.
