A new experience story at the Knowledge Festival

আলোকিত করি টিমের জ্ঞান উৎসব অনুষ্ঠিত হয় নারায়ণগঞ্জ জেলার নিশি পাড়া হরিজন কমিউনিটিতে। সেখানে আমি অংশগ্রহণ করার সুযোগ পাই।
আর এই প্রথম যাওয়া আমার নিজ কমিউনিটি থেকে অন্য কমিউনিটিতে জ্ঞান মেলায়। এই জ্ঞান মেলায় গিয়ে বুঝতে পেরেছি কেন জ্ঞান মেলাটা খুব দরকার। আসলে মানুষের শেখার কোন শেষ নাই। আবার দেখারও শেষ নাই। দেখে ও শুনে আমার নিজের ভিতরে অনেকটা কাজ করার উৎসাহ যুগিয়েছে নিজের প্রতি একটু আস্থা তৈরি হয়েছে অন্যান্য কমিউনিটির গল্প শুনে। সল্ট (সি এল সি পি) এ্য।প্রজটা সত্যিই মানুষের ইতিবাচক পরিবর্তনের এক জ্বলন্ত উদাহরণ। আমি যখন হরিজন কমিউনিটিতে জ্ঞান উৎসবে উপস্থিত হয় তখন দেখতে পাই ওই কমিউনিটির কিশোর কিশোরী ও অভিভাবকরা মিলে ভেনু সাজাতে ব্যস্ত আছে কেউ রঙিন কাগজ দিয়ে ফুল বানিয়ে আবার কেউ ঘুড়ি তৈরি করছে শুধু তৈরি করছে না সেটা দিয়ে ভিন্নভাবে লাগিয়ে গ্রামীণ মেলার মতো করে সাজাচ্ছে মনে হচ্ছে এখানে কোন কিছুর মেলাই হবে। ভেনুটা হয়েছিল দশ তলা বিল্ডিং এর পঞ্চম তলার এক ফ্লোরে। আমি যখন পঞ্চম তলায় পৌঁছায় তখন দেখতে পাই দ্বিতীয় তলা থেকে পঞ্চম তলার সবাই যেন ওদের এক দুর্গাপূজার উৎসব এমনভাবে সাজগোজ মানে যার যেরকম আছে পরিষ্কার-পরিচ্ছন্নভাবে রয়েছে আবার শুধু নিজেরাই পরিষ্কার হয়নি তাদের ঘর ঘরের আসবাবপত্র পরিষ্কার করছে আবার বিছানায় নতুন বা পরিষ্কার চাদর পাড়ছে সবাই মিলে খুব আনন্দময় দিন পার করছিল তারা। আমি একটু আরলি উপস্থিত হই ওই জ্ঞান উৎসবে সেখানে গিয়ে আমার ওই কমিউনিটি একজনের সাথে সল্ট করার সুযোগ হয়। যার সাথে সল্ট করি তার নাম মালতি রানী বয়স 53 বছর তিনি একজন পরিচ্ছন্ন কর্মী। মালতি রানীর এক ছেলে স্বামীও আছে। মালতি রানী স্বামী বেশ একটা সুবিধার ছিল না সে মাদকাসক্ত থাকতো। এখনো আছে তবে বর্তমানে সে পরিছন্নতার কাজ করে। মালতি রানীর স্বামী মাদকাসক্ত হওয়ায় সে তার একমাত্র ছেলেকে বেশ লেখাপড়া করাতে পারেনি ছেলে নবম শ্রেণীতে ওঠার পরে আর লেখাপড়ার খরচ চালাতে পারেনি মালতি রানী তবে মালতী রানী চেয়ে ছিল যত কষ্ট করেই হোক ছেলেকে সে মানুষ করবেই কিন্তু ওইটুকু ছেলে নিজ থেকেই লেখাপড়া বন্ধ করে দেয় তার মায়ের কষ্ট দেখে। লেখাপড়া বাদ দেওয়ার পরে মালতি রানী তার ছেলেকে দিয়ে পরিচ্ছন্নতার কাজ করতে দেয়নি ছেলেকে দিয়েছে এক গার্মেন্টস ফ্যাক্টরিতে। ছেলেকে বিয়ে দিয়েছে ছেলের বউ এসএসসি পাস। মালতি রানী জানায় আমরা আগে জানতাম যে আমাদের শুধু এই পরিচ্ছন্নতার কাজই করতে হবে কিন্তু সল্ট এর মাধ্যমে আমরা আমাদের নিজেদের শক্তি বুঝতে পেরেছি আমি আমার বৌমাকে আরো লেখা পড়া করাবো আমার এর পরের প্রজন্ম গুলো যেন আর পরিচ্ছন্ন কর্মী না হয়। এই তার চিন্তাভাবনা। মালতি রানীর সাথে যখন আমি সল্ট কনভারসেশন করি তখন ওনার ভাষা বুঝতে আমার খুব কষ্ট হচ্ছিল। আধো আধো বাংলা ভাষাতে কথা বলেন উনি। সল্ট কনভারসেশন এর পরে আমি চলে আসি জ্ঞানমেলা উৎসবে।
সেখানে এসে জানতে পারি আসল ঘটনা কেন বুঝতে পারছিলাম না আমি মালতি রানীর ভাষা ভালোভাবে। হরিজন কমিউনিটির লোকজন হিন্দি ভাষায় কথা বলে আমি এই প্রথম জানলাম যে বাংলাদেশের মানুষও কোন এক জায়গায় হিন্দি ভাষায় কথা বলে। এটা আমার প্রথম জানা। এটাও জানতে পারি তাদের এই হিন্দি ভাষার জন্য অনেক সমস্যা হয় পড়ালেখার ব্যাপারে। কিন্তু সল্ট এর মাধ্যমে তারা বুঝতে পারছে কোথায় গেলে বা কিভাবে নিজেদের সমস্যা নিজেরা দূর করা যায় তাই তো এখন তারা ভাষা সংস্কার করে বাংলা ভাষায় কথা বলছে। স্কুলে ভর্তি হতে পারছে কারণ বাংলাদেশের প্রত্যেকটা স্কুলে বাংলা ভাষা খুবই দরকার। তারা বুঝতে পেরেছে যে স্কুলে ছয়টা সাবজেক্ট তার মধ্যে একটা সাবজেক্ট ইংরেজিতে আর প্রত্যেকটা সাবজেক্টে বাংলা ভাষা তাই আমাদেরকে বাংলা ভাষা শিখতে হবে। এই যে চিন্তা-ভাবনা এটা শুধু হয়েছে সল্টের মাধ্যমে। তারা তাদের শক্তি চিনতে পেরেছে এবং সে শক্তি কাজে লাগিয়ে জীবণমান উন্নয়নের লক্ষ্যে এগোচ্ছে। আলোকিত করি টিমে জ্ঞান উৎসবে যদি না যেতাম তাহলে আমার এত কিছু জানা সম্ভব হতো না আমি অনেক কিছুই জানতে পেরেছি।

The Knowledge Festival of the Alokita Kori team was held in the Nishi Para Harijan community of Narayanganj district. I got the opportunity to participate there.
And this was the first time I went to a knowledge fair from my own community to another community. Going to this knowledge fair made me understand why knowledge fairs are very important. In fact, there is no end to learning for people. There is no end to seeing either. Seeing and hearing has encouraged me to do a lot of work within myself and I have gained a little confidence in myself by listening to the stories of other communities. SALT (CLCP) is a project that is truly a shining example of positive change in people. When I attend the Knowledge Festival in the Harijan community, I see that the teenagers and their parents of that community are busy decorating the festival together. Some are making flowers with colored paper, while others are making kites. They are not just making them, they are decorating them differently and decorating them like a rural fair. It seems like there will be a fair of some kind here. The festival was held on a floor on the fifth floor of a ten-story building. When I reached the fifth floor, I saw everyone from the second to the fifth floor dressed up as if it was a Durga Puja festival, clean and tidy, not only did they clean themselves, they were also cleaning their houses and furniture and putting new or clean sheets on the beds. They were all having a very happy day together. I arrived a little early for that knowledge festival and got the opportunity to chat with someone from that community. The person I chatted with was Malti Rani, 53 years old, she is a cleaning worker. Malti Rani also has a son and a husband. Malti Rani's husband was not very well-off, he was a drug addict. He still is, but currently he works as a cleaner. Malti Rani's husband was addicted to drugs, so she could not educate her only son properly. After the son reached the ninth grade, Malti Rani could not afford to pay for his education. However, Malti Rani wanted to raise her son no matter how much trouble it was, but the son stopped his education on his own, seeing his mother's pain. After dropping out of school, Malti Rani did not let her son do cleaning work, she gave him to a garment factory. The son's wife, who passed her SSC, married the son. Malti Rani said that we knew earlier that we only had to do this cleaning work, but through SALT, we have understood our own strength. I will educate my daughter-in-law more so that my future generations do not have to be cleaning workers. This is her thought. When I had a SALT conversation with Malti Rani, I had a lot of difficulty understanding her language. She spoke half in Bengali. After the SALT conversation, I went to the Gyan Mela festival.
When I got there, I found out why I couldn't understand Malti Rani's language well. People from the Harijan community speak Hindi. This is the first time I came to know that people in Bangladesh also speak Hindi in some places. This is the first time I have known. I also found out that they have a lot of problems in their studies because of this Hindi language. But through SALT, they understand where to go or how to solve their problems themselves, so now they are reforming the language and speaking in Bengali. They are able to get admission in schools because Bengali language is very important in every school in Bangladesh. They have understood that there are six subjects in schools, one of which is English and Bengali in every subject, so we have to learn Bengali language. This thinking has only happened through SALT. They have been able to recognize their strength and are moving towards improving the quality of life by using that strength. If I had not gone to the knowledge festival with the Illuminate team, I would not have been able to know so much. I have learned a lot.
