A Journey of Learning and Community Connection in Nepal

From 5–9 May, I had the wonderful opportunity to participate in an international convening in Nepal organized by the Global Fund for Children (GFC). Representatives from Bangladesh, Nepal and India came together to share our experiences, achievements and learning journeys related to the SALT and CLCP processes.

The convening was not only a platform for discussion and learning but also an inspiring experience of community connection and leadership. During our visit in Nepal, one of the most memorable experiences for me was visiting Upallo Amintara. There community members had built a community club entirely through their own initiatives and collective efforts. What inspired me most was the active participation of local students, youth, women, and men in making this dream a reality. Their ownership, unity and commitment were truly encouraging.

Another inspiring moment during the visit was watching a drama performed by a young local drama team. Through their performance they beautifully demonstrated how they are working to bring positive change in their community. Their creativity and dedication deeply motivated all of us.

The convening also gave me the opportunity to learn from fellow cohort members from different countries. The presentations and discussions enriched my understanding of the SALT and CLCP processes. I especially learned a great deal from the presentations shared by the Mangrove and Sundarban cohort, as well as our Nepal cohort members. Their experiences and innovative approaches provided valuable insights for our own community work. And I also enjoyed a lot our cultural activities and the dinner in the last evening of the convene.

Finally, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the Global Fund for Children (GFC) and its dedicated team members Ms. Indrani Chakraborty, Ms. Rituu, Ms. Shristy, Shanawaz bhai and others, for creating this meaningful opportunity for learning, sharing, and collaboration.

This experience has further strengthened my motivation and commitment to community-led change and collective action.
