Learning Together at the Alokito Kori Knowledge Fair

গত ২৪ তারিখ আমরা গ্রো ইউর রিডার টিম গিয়েছিলাম আলোকিত করি এর প্রথম নলেজ ফেয়ারে। আলোকিত করি এর কমিউনিটি থেকে শেখার জন্য আমাদের সুমন ভাই আর সেলিম ভাই আগের দিন রাতেই ময়মনসিংহ থেকে ঢাকায় চলে আসে। 

প্রোগ্রাম শুরুর আগে আগেই আমরা পৌঁছে যাই হরিজন কমিউনিটিতে। গিয়েই দেখি বৃন্তি দিদি, ঝুমুর দিদি আর কমিউনিটি এর ছোট ছোট ছেলেমেয়েরা মিলে জায়গাটা সাজাচ্ছে। কি সুন্দর তারা নিজেরাই সাজানোর সব জিনিস বানাচ্ছে, সেগুলো লাগাচ্ছে। কত মিল সবার মধ্যে! এই ছোট বয়সেই তারা এতো দায়িত্ব নিজেদের কাঁধে নিয়ে নিয়েছে। আমার মনে হয়েছে এই শিশুরাই হয়তো হরিজন কমিউনিটির মানুষের ভাগ্য বদলে দেবে একদিন। এখন থেকেই তারা শিখছে।

জ্ঞানের মেলা শুরু হয়েছে কমিউনিটির মানুষকে প্রশংসা করার মাধ্যমে। সল্ট কিভাবে কাজ করছে। 

তারপর জ্ঞানের মেলায় একে একে সবাই সবার থেকে বিভিন্ন উদ্যোগের কথা জানতে পারলাম। হরিজন কমিউনিটি দেখালো কিভাবে তারা ভাষার বাঁধা কাটিয়ে উঠেছে,  কিভাবে রুপালি নিজের চেষ্টায় নিজেই সাবলম্বী হচ্ছে পুঁতির জিনিস বানিয়ে, পিংকি দিদি শেয়ার করেছিল কিভাবে তারা শিশুদের স্কুল এ ভর্তি করানোর জন্য মা-বাবাকে সাহায্য করেছিল ডকুমেন্টস জোগাড় করতে। এছাড়াও BRED, ARSHIRBAD তাদের কমিউনিটির মানুষদের উদ্যোগগুলোর কথা সবার সাথে শেয়ার করেছে। আর আমরা শেয়ার করেছিলাম আমাদের পাহাড়িয়াপাড়া আগামীর স্কুল এর কথা। সেলিম ভাই এবং সুমন ভাই নিজেরা নিজেদের গল্প বলতে পেরেও অনেক অনুপ্রাণিত হয়েছেন।

সুমন ভাই বলেছেন এটা ওনার জীবনের প্রথম এতো মানুষের সামনে কথা বলা। ওনার অনেক নার্ভাস লেগেছে কিন্তু নিজেদের গল্প শেয়ার করতে পেরে উনি খুব খুশিও হয়েছেন।

এভাবেই আমরা একজন আরেকজন থেকে শেখার মাধ্যমে শেষ হয়েছে নলেজ ফেয়ার। হরিজন কমিউনিটি এর ছেলে মেয়েরা আমাদের যেভাবে আপন করে নিয়েছে আমার মনে হয়েছে আমরা ওদেরই একজন।

আলোকিত করি টিমের হরিজন কমিউনিটি দেখার পর আমার এখন বেদে কমিউনিটিতে গিয়েই কমিউনিটির থেকেই শেখার অনেক ইচ্ছা। আশা করি খুব শীঘ্রই যেতে পারবো।

দুই জায়গায় ২ টি কমিউনিটি নিয়ে কাজ করা সত্ত্বেও আলোকিত করি টিম যেভাবে সব কিছু organize করেছে সেটি আসলেই প্রশংসার দাবীদার। Hats off to Alokito Kori Team.

On the 24th, our Grow Your Reader team visited the first Knowledge Fair organized by Alokito Kori. To learn from the Alokito Kori community, our Suman bhai and Selim bhai came from Mymensingh to Dhaka the night before.

We arrived early at the Harijan community before the program started. As soon as we got there, we saw Brinti apa, Jhumur apa, and the young children of the community decorating the space together. It was beautiful to see how they were making the decorations themselves and setting everything up. There was such a strong sense of unity among them! At such a young age, they are already taking responsibility for their community. It made me feel that these children might one day change the future of the Harijan community. They are already learning from now.

The Knowledge Fair began with appreciating the community members and sharing how SALT is working. Then, one by one, we learned about different initiatives from each other.

The Harijan community showed how they overcame language barriers, how Rupali is becoming self-reliant by making beaded crafts through her own efforts, and Pinki apa shared how they helped parents gather documents to enroll their children in school. In addition, BRED and ARSHIRBAD shared various initiatives from their communities. We also shared about our Pahariapara Agamir School. Selim bhai and Suman bhai also felt deeply inspired after being able to share their own stories. Suman bhai said that this was the first time in his life speaking in front of so many people. He felt very nervous, but he was also very happy to be able to share his story.

In this way, the Knowledge Fair came to an end through mutual learning and sharing. The children of the Harijan community welcomed us so warmly that it felt like we were one of them.

After seeing the Harijan community of the Alokito Kori team, I now have a strong desire to visit the Bede community and learn directly from the community itself.I hope to go there very soon.

Despite working with two different communities in two locations, the way the Alokito Kori team organized everything is truly commendable. Hats off to the Alokito Kori team.
