A Story of a Student Returning to Education from Mobile Addiction through SALT Conversation. SALT কনভারসেশনের মাধ্যমে মোবাইল আসক্তি থেকে মুক্ত হয়ে পড়াশোনায় ফেরা এক শিক্ষার্থীর গল্প

Suraj Bin is a young man from the Charbin Para community. He completed his education up to eighth grade but did not want to continue studying afterward. As the eldest son of the family, many hopes and expectations rested on him. His decision to drop out of school was deeply disappointing for his parents and had a significant emotional impact on the family.
When Ashirbad started SALT activities in the Charbin Para community, a youth team was formed, consisting of several boys and girls from the area. Through this youth team, we first came to know about Suraj. Later, we conducted a SALT conversation with him and also spoke separately with his parents.
During these conversations, it was revealed that after being given a mobile phone, Suraj became excessively addicted to it. As a result, he stopped helping with household work and did not attend school regularly. He spent most of his time on his mobile phone. According to his father, the main problem was Suraj’s addiction to mobile usage.
One day, a major conflict suddenly broke out in their household. During the argument, Suraj’s father, in a moment of anger, broke his mobile phone. This incident left Suraj emotionally shattered and intensified the family conflict.
Afterward, I, along with two youth team members Eka and Srity conducted another SALT conversation with Suraj. We invited him to join our youth team. Initially, he was unwilling, but eventually, he started participating in the youth team activities. As he began interacting with other team members, a gradual positive change in his mindset became noticeable.
Later, Suraj made the decision on his own to return to school. He enrolled again in ninth grade and started studying with dedication and focus. This change has made his parents extremely happy and proud.
After holding a SALT conversation with his parents, they also realized that they cannot force their child into anything. Instead, they need to guide him with care, patience, and understanding. They learned that no form of abuse or harsh behavior toward their child is acceptable. 

চরবিন পাড়া কমিউনিটির এক তরুণের নাম সুরজ বিন। সে অষ্টম শ্রেণি পর্যন্ত পড়াশোনা করলেও এরপর আর পড়াশোনা চালিয়ে যেতে আগ্রহী ছিল না। পরিবারের বড় ছেলে হওয়ায় তার ওপর বাবা-মায়ের অনেক আশা-ভরসা নির্ভর করত। সুরজের পড়াশোনা বন্ধ হয়ে যাওয়ার সিদ্ধান্ত তার পরিবারের জন্য ছিল অত্যন্ত হতাশাজনক এবং মানসিকভাবে কষ্টদায়ক।
আশীর্বাদ থেকে যখন চরবিন পাড়া কমিউনিটিতে SALT কার্যক্রম শুরু করা হয়, তখন সেখানে একটি ইয়োথ টিম গঠন করা হয়। এই টিমে এলাকার বেশ কয়েকজন ছেলে ও মেয়ে যুক্ত হয়। সেই ইয়োথ টিমের মাধ্যমেই আমরা প্রথম সুরজের বিষয়ে জানতে পারি। এরপর আমরা তার সঙ্গে SALT কনভারসেশন করি এবং পরবর্তীতে তার বাবা-মায়ের সঙ্গেও আলাদা করে কথা বলি।
কথোপকথনের একপর্যায়ে জানা যায়, সুরজকে একটি মোবাইল ফোন কিনে দেওয়ার পর সে ধীরে ধীরে মোবাইলে অতিরিক্ত আসক্ত হয়ে পড়ে। এর ফলে সে ঘরের কোনো কাজ করত না, নিয়মিত স্কুলেও যেত না। সারাদিন মোবাইল ফোনেই সময় কাটাত। তার বাবা জানান, পরিবারের প্রধান সমস্যা ছিল সুরজের এই মোবাইল আসক্তি।
একদিন হঠাৎ করে তাদের পরিবারে বড় ধরনের ঝগড়া হয়। সেই ঝগড়ার একপর্যায়ে রাগের মাথায় তার বাবা সুরজের মোবাইল ফোন ভেঙে ফেলেন। এতে সুরজ আরও মানসিকভাবে ভেঙে পড়ে এবং পারিবারিক অশান্তি আরও বেড়ে যায়।
এরপর আমি ইয়োথ টিমের দুই সদস্য একা ও স্মৃতিকে সঙ্গে নিয়ে আবার সুরজের সঙ্গে SALT কনভারসেশন করি। আমরা তাকে আমাদের ইয়োথ টিমে যোগ দেওয়ার আমন্ত্রণ জানাই। শুরুতে সে রাজি হয়নি, তবে ধীরে ধীরে আমাদের সঙ্গে যুক্ত হয়। টিমের অন্য সদস্যদের সঙ্গে মেলামেশা করার পর তার চিন্তাভাবনায় ইতিবাচক পরিবর্তন আসতে শুরু করে।
একপর্যায়ে সুরজ নিজেই সিদ্ধান্ত নেয় যে সে আবার পড়াশোনা শুরু করবে। সে নবম শ্রেণিতে নতুন করে ভর্তি হয় এবং মনোযোগ দিয়ে পড়াশোনা শুরু করে। এতে তার বাবা-মা আজ খুবই খুশি এবং গর্বিত।
তার বাবা-মায়ের সঙ্গে SALT কনভারসেশন করার পর তারাও উপলব্ধি করেন যে সন্তানের ওপর জোর করে কোনো কিছু চাপিয়ে দেওয়া ঠিক নয়। বরং ভালো ব্যবহার, ধৈর্য এবং বোঝাপড়ার মাধ্যমে সন্তানকে সঠিক পথে আনতে হয়। সন্তানের ওপর কোনো ধরনের নির্যাতন বা রূঢ় আচরণ করা কখনোই সমাধান হতে পারে না এ কথাও তারা বুঝতে পারেন।
SALT কনভারসেশন এমন একটি কার্যক্রম, যেখানে মানুষের সঙ্গে গভীরভাবে মিশে, তার কথা মন দিয়ে না শুনলে তার ভেতরের প্রকৃত সমস্যাগুলো বোঝা সম্ভব নয়। যদি সুরজের সঙ্গে সময়মতো SALT কনভারসেশন না করা হতো, তাহলে হয়তো তার পড়াশোনার পথ এখানেই থেমে যেত।
আজ সুরজ এসএসসি পরীক্ষার জন্য প্রস্তুতি নিচ্ছে। তার সামনে এখন একটি উজ্জ্বল ভবিষ্যৎ অপেক্ষা করছে।
