I had a quick conversation with Rina Hansda, a lady from the Santal community in Kewda village. One day, she and her daughter were going to harvest paddy in the field. Then a delivery boy was driving a car at a high speed past them. Suddenly, a dog came in the middle of the road, and the boy lost control of the car and fell. My daughter and I immediately ran after seeing him and saw that the car had fallen on him in such a way that one of his legs was crushed under the car and I saw that a lot of blood was flowing from his leg and he was screaming in pain. I tried to lift the car and somehow I lifted the car off him. Then my daughter and I took him to an empty place and gave him water. At that time, most of the people of the village had gone to harvest paddy in the field.
A young man from Kewda village, Suman, was coming home from work in the field. He saw us and came to help. Then we both struggled and took him to the doctor in the neighboring village for treatment. Then we called his family and informed them.
I asked him, "You don't know him, so why did you go to help?" I couldn't stand to see him. At that time, all I could think about was how can we save him. Even though the boy was a stranger, he was still a human being, so I felt very sorry for him. I couldn't help him. If I hadn't saved him at that time, the boy could have died. Because a lot of blood was flowing from the boy's leg. I was able to save a boy's life, that's what makes me very proud.
