SALT work has been going on in Nandwal village for the last two and a half years. While doing this work, it was noticed that there is a high level of depression among young children in the village, due to which some young people have committed suicide. While taking SALT from the people of the village, each person told us that there are so many suicides in the village, something should be done about it. So we asked those people what we can do about this, and they said that the reason why children are committing suicide should be found out first. Last year, people from Nandwal villages came together and conducted a community-led research on Anandmay Gaon. After conducting this research, many findings were found, one of which was that although young children use mobile phones excessively, many people were of the opinion that they should be involved in traditional games.
However, Baban Patil, a member of the research team, talked to other activists of the youth group and involved young children in traditional games to instill interest in them, and some young children participated in this, which was demonstrated by these children through games four days ago on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti. Salt activity was conducted with some of these children and Baban Patil was also trained in research by taking salt. While playing all these games, the children were imitating this and there was a discussion among the women that the women were also happy that the children were playing practical games rather than mobile phones.
