Yesterday, in the Bhatpara Nichhe Line area, I had the privilege of sitting with 18-year-old Jaidev for a SALT conversation. What began as a simple sharing soon turned into an emotional and inspiring dialogue, leaving me deeply touched.
Jaidev’s Proud Story
As we talked, Jaidev opened up about his life with a gentle pride in his voice. He shared that whenever challenges come to his family, they never panic or blame each other. Instead, they come together, think wisely, and face the situation with calmness and unity.
What struck me even more was his deep sense of responsibility. Jaidev said proudly that he always helps his parents with their daily work at home. By lending a hand, the household responsibilities are managed faster, leaving time for the family members to focus on other important tasks. For him, this ability to work side by side with his parents and shoulder responsibilities together is the proudest experience of his life.
The Strengths that Shine in Him
In his story, five beautiful strengths emerged brightly:
Problem-solving ability
Sense of responsibility
Spirit of cooperation
Time management
Respect for family
These qualities reflect not only his maturity at such a young age but also the deep values embedded in his heart.
What I Learned as a Facilitator
Listening to Jaidev gave me important lessons that touched me deeply:
True strength lies in family cooperation and partnership.
For every responsibility shared, relationships grow stronger.
Youth, when guided with the right attitude and spirit of collaboration, can become the pillars of their families.
Even small stories of pride carry within them wisdom about how communities live with unity and resilience.
As a facilitator, I realized the power of celebrating such experiences, for they inspire both individuals and communities to recognize their own strengths.
Jaidev’s View on Community
His vision for community life was simple yet powerful:
“In the community, everyone should live together with unity and must extend support to each other in times of difficulty.”
This thought showed me his belief in collective strength, not just within families but also within the larger society.
After Experience Reflection (AER)
When I asked him how he felt about our conversation, Jaidev smiled and said that he felt truly at ease. He appreciated the friendly environment that allowed him to speak openly from his heart. He even said it felt like he was talking to a friend, not just a facilitator. Hearing his own strengths reflected back to him brought him inner peace and satisfaction.
When asked what could have made the experience better, he responded thoughtfully: he would have liked if some of his peers, elders, and younger members were also present for a group discussion. That, he felt, would have made the conversation even more meaningful.
A Moment to Treasure
Jaidev’s story is more than just a personal reflection—it is a reminder that pride does not come from grand achievements, but from the everyday acts of love, responsibility, and unity. His words reminded me that strength lies in togetherness, and that the youth, with their fresh spirit, can lead families and communities towards resilience and hope.
That day, I did not just listen to a story; I walked away with a heart full of inspiration.
