I think the great facilitator to any local response is that you have to be comfortable with yourself, know your values and have a willingness to be transparent and open to your community.
If you allow preconceived notions to bias you, you will never make the impact you need to because you'll miss the window of opportunity to treat people as humans. Humans who like yourself, are subject to mistakes and failures and who can develop strength through out that process to develop themselves and build capacity in others.
Building relationship means that you not only talk the talk but people observe you, and if you do not translate that talk into action, nothing you have to say will resonate with the community.
Your integrity, authenticity and genuine compassion transcends all boundaries, it is through these open doors or windows that we are able to draw a nexus even when we largely have fundamental dissonance.
This works for me.

Nice. This really matches my own experience. Once I am fully myself and authentic AND am properly prepared (which is still really important), then I am at my best in the facilitation.
Thanks Marissa.
For me too way of working i.e. SALT is DNA of CLCP facilitator. Thanks Marissa for posting two blogs this week and sharing your experience.
Hmmmmm! SALTy facilitating is the BRIDGE between 'y'ou (being comfortable with yourself, knowing your values .. your willingness...) and the "... ..any local response" from the community you interact with. Great idea Marissa.
