The Power of Poetry and The Power of a Dream

Recently, there have been 2 poems among the postings on Ning. Each of them has made me think, has given me pleasure and shown light for me on the power of a dream.

The first comes from Yamini Suvarna: Yamini's poem. Here is the ending:

The dream reaches out
Touches us, holds us.
The dream becomes real.
The dream is us.

The second comes from Mridula Kapil Bhargava: Mridula's poem. As Mridula reminds me, I can find it painfully difficult to start this process of dreaming:

Talking to people isn’t easy.
But this gave me a way to start.
They realised!
They became aware of their present and their past
All set to make their future
And transfer it till their last.

And that led me to piece of verse by Helder Camara;

‘When we are dreaming alone, it is only a dream.
When we are dreaming with others, it is the beginning of reality.’

As I thought about these ideas, I kept on coming back to another remarkable poem by Amanda Gorman that was spoken on a larger stage:

For there is always light,
If only we’re brave enough to see it
If only we’re brave enough to be it.

The Hill We Climb

Each poem talks about how a dream can be a powerful force to create a desired outcome for the individual, the group or the nation. But it isn’t easy to begin the dialogue, it isn’t easy to embrace what we create and it isn’t easy to take action to move towards the desired outcome. This isn’t a panacea, but it is an opportunity

Hi Phil,

I invite participants to share their thoughts in any creative expression that suits them. Poetry is one of those. Corey has written a powerful poem after a knowledge Fair. You will enjoy reading it!

Warm regards,

Rituu

This isn’t a panacea, but it is an opportunity - well said.
