The Constellation and Visual Development have produced a series of six short films that present different stories of community change. Each episode tells the story of one community with both the beautiful and painful aspects that sit at the heart of community change. https://asyouopenyoureyes.com/
‘Dancing Jajas’ tells how older persons in Entebbe, Uganda are using their talents and experiences to live their lives with dignity. https://asyouopenyoureyes.com/uganda
The content discussed in this note begins at 1 minutes and 16 seconds on the film. The content is also on this short clip.
Agnes speaks of the dream of this community of older people: What I find so powerful about it is that it is not a daydream and it is not an idle dream. It is a tool that they use to bring them back when they go astray. When she finishes the piece there is even something of a threat from Agnes: Don’t forget, you are here to live in harmony!
This piece speaks of the power of a dream, the usefulness of a dream and the practicality of the dream.
Our idea is to live in harmony with older people.
So we picked that theme:
“Older people live in harmony.”
And every time we go astray, we revise that theme.
You people, don’t forget: we are here to live in harmony.

Rituu,
There are just so many remarkable people in that group in Entebbe. There are so many visits and experiences that are etched into my mind. It is wonderful to have the film to make sure that I never forget those wonderful people.
Phil, I had the privilege to visit Jaja Agnes many times. What I got from her and her group was different generations living in harmony. Thank you for reminding us again the power of the dream. for me this is the most powerful step in CLCP
