‘'Small Dream but Bigger Solution''

 কমিউনিটির যমুনা গ্রুপের সদস্যরা স্বপ্ন দেখেছিলেন যে,তাদের বাড়ির পাশে বর্ষার পানিতে যে জলাবদ্ধতা সৃষ্টি হয় তা নিরশনের জন্য পাম্প মেশিনের মাধ্যমে অস্থায়ী ভাবে পানি সেচের মাধ্যমে সমাধান নয় বরং একটি স্থায়ী সমস্যার সমাধান করা দরকার। যার ফলশ্রুতিতে যমুনা গ্রুপের সদস্যরা একত্রিত হয়ে গত ০৭ই অক্টোবর ২০২৪ তারিখে সল্ট কার্যক্রমের মধ্য দিয়ে অস্থায়ীভাবে জলাবদ্ধতা দূরীকরণে বিশেষ ভূমিকা পালন করে এলাকাবাসীকে অনুপ্রাণিত করেছে।

বর্তমানে যমুনা গ্রুপের সদস্যরা আলোচনা সভার মাধ্যমে সিদ্ধান্ত নেয় যে বড়দেরকে সঙ্গে নিয়ে এই কাজগুলোর কিভাবে স্থায়ী সমাধান করা যায়। সেই চিন্তা ভাবনা থেকে তারা তাদের অভিভাবকদের সাথে কথা বলে এবং যমুনা গ্রুপের সদস্যদের অভিভাবকগন গ্রুপের সদস্যদের ডাকে সাড়া দিয়ে এলাকার মানুষের সাথে কথা বলে নিজেরাই টাকা কালেকশন করে ২টি পাইপ ২,১০০ টাকা দিয়ে কিনেছে। বাকি পাইপ প্রাপ্তি সাপেক্ষে ক্রয় করে পানি নিষ্কাশনের ব্যবস্থা করা হবে। বাস্তব ভিত্তিতে কাজের ক্ষেত্র বিশেষ অভিভাবকগণ আলোচনা করেন ৫ ইঞ্চি পাইপ এর পরিবর্তে যদি ৮ ইঞ্চি পাইপ দেওয়া হয় তাহলে পানি দ্রুত নিষ্কাশন হবে এবং কোন ঝুকি থাকবেনা
আর কোন পরিবার জলবদ্ধতার কারণে ভোগান্তি বা ক্ষতির সম্মুখীন হবে না । তাই তারা আগের পাইপ ফেরত দিয়ে চওড়ায় ৮ ইঞ্চি পাইপ এবং লম্বায় ২০ ফিট করে ২ টি পাইপ ৫,০০০- টাকা দিয়ে কিনে আনেন এবং পাইপ দুইটি মাটির নিচ দিয়ে একজন শ্রমিক সহ যমুনা গ্রুপের সদস্যদের কয়েকজন অভিভাবক মিলে রাতেই এই কাজটি সম্পন করেন।

• The members of the Jamuna Group from the Pechakola community had a dream. They wanted to find a permanent solution to the waterlogging problem near their homes during the rainy season. Instead of using a pump machine for a temporary fix, they wanted something that would solve the problem forever.
  So, on October 7, 2024, the Jamuna Group members came together through the SALT activities and worked to remove the water temporarily. Their hard work inspired the people in the area.
  Later, the Jamuna Group members held a meeting and decided that they needed help from the adults to find a permanent solution. They talked to their parents, and the parents agreed to help. The parents spoke with other people in the community, collected money on their own, and bought two pipes for 2,100 taka. They planned to buy more pipes when possible, to complete the drainage system.
  While planning the work, the parents noticed that if they used 8-inch-wide pipes instead of 5-inch ones, the water would drain faster and more safely. No family would then suffer from waterlogging again.
  So, they returned the old pipes and bought two new pipes — each 8 inches wide and 20 feet long — for 5,000 taka. That very night, a few parents, a worker, and some Jamuna Group members worked together to install the pipes underground.
  In the end, the dream of the Jamuna Group members came true because everyone in the community, even the families who had lost hope, joined hands and worked together to make it happen.
