We a group of youth from Nepal community life competence team visited the nurses in a medical college and hospital and practised self assessment on Nurses. Here is a video on the SALT visit.
The most important thing in this exercise was creating a safe space that nurses could self assess with honesty and without being judged. SALT is key. Self assessment without SALT would be just another tool. We must remember it is collective self assessment and aim is to spur conversation, reflection and action.
The nurses developed several practices on universal precaution. But in brief they acknowledged that in hospital settings the level ranged between 3-4. They shared the reasons why were at this level and then made a plan with small, feasible actions to improve their level. Thanks Ashish for capturing this video
