Padma Team Dream Herbal Garden

The members of the Penchakola Community Padma Dal, after learning about the changes in other community groups, also dream of some changes in the community through their group.
They learned from their grandmothers that many diseases can be cured by medicinal plants, such as using basil leaves to cure colds and coughs, and eating stonecrop leaves to relieve stomach pain. Inspired by that thought,
they thought of creating a herbal garden. They started creating their herbal garden as they thought and worked. And knowing its qualities, they used it. So they started to create a herbal garden in whose house everyone could easily go and take it. In the meantime, Nilufa Khatun, a member of the Padma Dal, gave them a place for a herbal garden in a part of their house.
They started their dream herbal garden there. Among the members of the Padma Dal, Ankhi Khatun, Tinni Khatun and Nilufa Khatun together cleaned the garden area.

First they started the herb garden with two plants. Tinni brought two earthen pots left at their house and Nilufa put soil in the pots from their house and Akhti brought a Tulsi plant sapling from their house and Akhir collected a Patharkuchi plant from Apar's house. They did not stop with these two plants, they started thinking about how to grow more herbs in our garden. One day Nilufa went to her grandmother's house and saw that her grandmother had a Ghrit Kanchan Rajkantha plant in her house. Nilufa brought two seedlings from her grandmother and planted them in their herb garden. And Tinni brought a cactus plant and a Rajkantha plant from her aunt's house.
Their ongoing work is to first completely grow a herb garden according to our ability and then from six plants, 18 to 20 more are transformed into our herb garden. They take care of the herb garden themselves.
Then we will learn about the properties and uses of this plant in some way and apply it in the community. They say that not only this one garden, but when the seedlings grow from this garden, every house in our community should have one to two medicinal plants and know their properties and uses.
In this way, if someone is sick, they can get cured with medicinal plants at the initial stage without going to the doctor.
This will save them financially.
I also learned a lot from this thinking and work of the Padma team. I am also thinking that I will plant medicinal plants in my house and use them.

পদ্মা দলের স্বপ্নের ভেষজ বাগান

পেঁচাকোলা কমিউনিটি পদ্মা দলের সদস্যরা ওই কমিউনিটিরি অন্যান্য দলের পরিবর্তনের কথা জানতে পেরে তারাও তাদের দলের মাধ্যমে কমিউনিটিতে কিছু পরিবর্তনের স্বপ্ন দেখে।
তারা আগেকার দাদী নানীর কাছে জানতে পেরেছে যে ঔষধি গাছ দ্বারা অনেক রোগ সারানো যায় যেমন তুলসী গাছের পাতা ব্যবহার করলে সর্দি কাশি সারে পাথরকুচির পাতা খেলে পেটের ব্যথা সাড়ে। সেই ভাবনা থেকেই অনুপ্রাণিত হয়ে
একটি ভেষজ বাগান তৈরি করার কথা ভাবে। তাদের যেমন ভাবনা তেমনই কাজ তারা শুরু করে দেয় তাদের ভেষজ বাগান তৈরি করে। ও এর গুনাগুন জেনে সেটা ব্যবহার করা। তাইতো তারা শুরু করে যে কার বাড়িতে ভেষজ বাগান করা যায় যেখানে সবাই অনায়াসে যেতে পারবে এবং নিতে পারবে। এর মধ্যে পদ্মা দলেরই সদস্য নিলুফা খাতুন ওদের বাড়ি এক অংশে ভেষজ বাগানের জায়গা দেয়।
সেখানে শুরু করে দেয় তাদের স্বপ্নের ভেষজ বাগান। পদ্মা দলের সদস্য মধ্যে আঁখি খাতুন তিন্নি খাতুন ও নিলুফা খাতুন মিলে বাগানের জায়গা পরিষ্কার করে।
প্রথমে তারা দুটি গাছ দিয়ে ভেষজ বাগান শুরু করে। তিন্নি এনে দেয় তাদের বাড়িতে ফেলে রাখা দুটি মাটির পাত্র আর নিলুফা দেয় পাত্রের ভিতর তাদের বাড়ি থেকে মাটি ও আখি এনে দেয় তাদের বাড়িতে থাকার তুলসী গাছের চারা ও আখির আপার বাড়ি থেকে পাথরকুচির গাছ সংগ্রহ করে। তারা এই দুটি গাছ নিয়ে থেমে থাকেনি ওরা ভাবতে থাকে কি করে আমাদের বাগানে আরো ভেষজ গাছ বৃদ্ধি করা যায়। নিলুফা একদিন তার নানির বাড়িতে বেড়াতে যায় সেখানে গিয়ে দেখে তার নানির বাড়িতে রয়েছে ঘৃত কাঞ্চন রাজকন্ঠ গাছ। নিলুফা তার নানির কাছ থেকে দুইটি চারা নিয়ে আসে এনে তাদের ভেষজ বাগানে রোপন করে। আর তিন্নি এনে দেয় তার খালার বাড়িতে থাকা ক্যাকটাস গাছ ও রাজকণ্ঠের গাছ।
তাদের চলমান কাজ হচ্ছে আগে একটি ভেষজ বাগান পরিপূর্ণরূপে আমাদের সামর্থ্য অনুযায়ী এভাবে সংগ্রহ করে করে ছয়টি গাছ থেকে আরো যেন ১৮ থেকে ২০ টি কাছে রুপান্তরিত হয় আমাদের ভেষজ বাগানে। ভেষজ বাগান তারা নিজেরাই পরিচর্যা করে।
তারপর আমরা এই গাছের গুনাগুন ও ব্যবহার সম্পর্কে কোন উপায়ে জেনে সেটা কমিউনিটিতে প্রয়োগ করব। তারা বলে শুধু এই একটি বাগানোই নয় এ বাগান থেকে যখন চারা বৃদ্ধি পাবে আমাদের কমিউনিটিতে যেন প্রতিটি বাড়িতে এক থেকে দুইটি ওষুধি কাজ থাকে এবং তার গুনাগুন ও ব্যবহার জানতে পারে।
এতে করে অসুস্থ হলে প্রাথমিক পর্যায়ে ডাক্তারের কাছে না গিয়ে ঔষধি গাছের দ্বারা সুস্থ হতে পারে।
তাতে তাদের আর্থিক সাশ্রয় হবে।
পদ্মা দলের এই ভাবনা ও কাজ থেকে আমিও অনেক কিছু নিজেই জানতে পারলাম আমিও ভাবছি আমার বাড়িতেও আমি ভেষজ গাছ লাগাবো এবং সেটা ব্যবহার করব।
