Connecting local responses around the world
This is my first time write some post in English, so I hope you could share some edit or correction for my grammar. My name Glenn Wattimury, 37 years old married man with 2 children. It is a perfect chance join SALT Learning. Now I want to share one of my story while practicing SALT for first time.
I am going to Haruku a little village on one of Maluku islands that named Haruku also. In that place I want to visit one of Maluku's Kewang named Mr. Eli. Kewang is a forest/environment guardian. They chosen using their root one generation to next generation. Their duty to keep nature and environment as well. Usually I am someone who like to talk, but when I practice SALT on that visit I realize that it's so great, I get many lesson from LISTENING yeah sometimes Listening are Better, someone will feel they are listened and they will open to explored, on that session, Mr. Eli spoke to me about his matter, his problem, his worries, about his dream, something that very importan. And Mr. Eli know what different of me on that visit, he and some of my friends that follow and meet at that village realize that something different from myself.
From that I know that sometimes good for us to only listen, people or community or local will found you are open for them, open for their stories, open for their problem, and for their dream. You don't have to offer solution if you can't handle their problem, just listen them, that makes you accepted.
So I back to the town after spending two night with Mr. Eli and his family. And got a lesson, sometimes by Listening, you open the gate to someone that will lead you discover your own Strength.
