Coordination, Planning, and Integrity

I spent a beautiful moment today with 40-year-old Bhaiya Binod Khariya from the Nichhe line area Bhatpara Tea Garden, and I felt calm and honored.

 *Bhaiya’s proud story:*

I am the person in my village whom people consider to understand every situation and to step forward in times of crisis; my identity resonates with patience, truthfulness, and fearless service, and these qualities define all my actions. Whether it is the first trouble of dawn or the last sorrow of night—if there is even the slightest stir or silence in someone’s home, people expect me without telling me, and I move forward without any show; from arranging funeral rites to organizing the joys of weddings, I handle every responsibility calmly, with full dedication and honesty. When someone’s family loses a loved one, I first sit there to understand the sorrowful people, learn their wishes from their words and gentle silences, and take responsibility for every small and large arrangement—whether it is decorating the pyre, avoiding unnecessary expenses, or preserving the family’s dignity—I bring transparency and respect to every task so that those performing their final traditions do not face inconvenience or shame. Similarly, my role in weddings is no less important, where I have to manage budget, rituals, guest punctuality, and food and drink facilities so carefully that nothing is lacking in the family’s happiness. I learn the family’s priorities in advance and arrange small but effective things to enhance that joy. Binod bro said this is his proudest story.

 *Binod Ji’s strengths* :

* Sensitivity and respect for dignity: He pays attention to people’s dignity and emotions — this shows humane strength and moral firmness in his leadership.

* Calm leadership: In crises, Binod Ji first keeps his composure and then assesses the situation before acting; this shows emotional stability and leadership ability.

As a SALT facilitator I learned very deep and practical lessons from Binod Ji that have strengthened my facilitation perspective and methods.

Binod Ji taught me the great lesson of “coordination and planning.” He plans in advance for weddings, funerals, or disasters—budget, rituals, guest facilities, and punctuality—and then honestly takes on every responsibility. From this I learned that a facilitator must know not only how to lead conversations but also how to coordinate concrete actions and resources; otherwise the community’s positive energy will not bear fruit. Binod Ji’s ability helps me create “real action plans” in sessions and implement them in a time-bound way.

 *Binod Bhaiya about children:*

My desire is that our children receive quality education, develop their talents, and move forward with honesty. I firmly believe that a government job is not the only measure of success; in any field of life, if work is done with devotion and a spirit of service to society, it is equally respectable and valuable.

My request to young companions is that they focus fully on their studies, prepare seriously for jobs or businesses, stay away from bad habits and addiction, and take care of their family’s honor and household.

*Binod Bhaiya’s view about the community* :

I believe the real strength of the village lies in its unity and mutual support. Today some people are not united because of personal interests, economic differences, or caste thinking. If we all come together, share ideas, and work jointly, small efforts can bring large positive changes in the village.

 *What went well, and why?*

Bhaiya said he felt very good that he spoke his thoughts openly. This created a positive atmosphere where others would also share their experiences like him—and that is the beginning of community change. Through mutual bonding.

 *What could be better?*

If people would participate actively and we could devote more time in a planned way, more lasting changes for the village might emerge.
