I have always believed that lasting change is possible only through the efforts of those who can create, which takes the form of a tradition. .. The important thing is that their consciousness accepts that change is necessary, as soon as the consciousness accepts, no adverse situation can become a hindrance in the path of change because the person is determined.

I am sharing an experience of an amazing story which is pleasant for me.. A very deprived community which has been suffering from conservatism. Although they have access to mobile phones, social media, motorcycles, modern clothes, but challenging inhuman beliefs has not been their priority, due to which the women of the community have become accustomed to facing countless difficulties, women in this community do not have the freedom to take decisions, while the family gets food from their hard work. .News of domestic violence and disrespect against women is common, society and police also know about it but no written complaint is ever received so police just passes by the road seeing everything.. In this community, the relation of marriage can be broken at any time by just giving some price.. That price is determined by the Panchayat of the community at its discretion without any fixed law.. Any law of safety and security which is applicable for women of other communities at the time of domestic violence and divorce is not applicable here because the matter never reached the law.. During the qualitative interview, when women felt that someone has come to listen to them, women raised this issue fearlessly that there is always insecurity in their mind that their husband can leave them helpless at any time and they will be left alone with the responsibility of the children because a man can live with more than one woman.. Men do not care about commitment because in 99 percent of the cases the decisions of the Panchayat are in favor of men. During SALT the women told that many times they have prevented incidents happening with unknown girls because they felt that something wrong was happening to the girl and her life could be ruined, they have saved those girls and they are proud of it. But that woman herself could never raise her voice against the bad behavior against her at the appropriate forum because her weak/unprotected financial status does not give her the courage to protest socially. That woman has grown up seeing women around her facing this situation, she has accepted it. But after two SALTs, that woman started believing in herself that she is getting appreciated for raising her voice against the wrong. .. After two months, for the first time on 2nd August 2025, the police was called in the community in a case of domestic violence. The woman herself wanted to seek legal help. The local police was also surprised and came to give courage to the woman's efforts. Keeping in mind the beliefs of the community, the Panchayat leader of the community was also assured that if an application has been given, action will be taken under the Constitution of India. Both the parties have been called to the nearest police station today. This incident has become a matter of curiosity in the police station as well. Surprisingly, the Panchayat leader is also keeping his stance soft. It is hoped that this incident will give strength to other women and a new healthy tradition can be started. ..
