Appreciative Inquiry for Positive Business and Social Change

A two days training was organized in Kathmandu for the tourism entrepreneurs on Appreciative Inquiry for Positive Business and Social Change on 7-8 June,2013. 34 business persons from the tourism development sectors were participated in the training. The peak points of the business people and tourism business were discovered and shared. The stories have proved that many social new realities are co-created by the business people in past and they have great desire to serve the country through quality business in the days to come as well. They discovered other hidden realities that their businesses can take the lead to social transformation process through the corporate social responsibilities. They have envisioned the prosperous society through the whole system management of business. They have dream to connect their business with the poorest of the poor rural communities to the richest international communities. In future, they have commitment to expand the business with environmental friendly, socially acceptable and economically and socially profitable ways. To materialize these facts, they have formed a relief and development fund within their main body under the leadership of chairperson. All business persons have expressed their commitment to contribute certain amount to this fund for the welfare of rural poor people. The training participants have honored me as the patron of this fund. I really overwhelmed by their respect and response. The operation modalities of the fund will be finalized by the full body meeting of the committee.  At the same time, all business persons have expressed their commitment to prohibit the plastic bags in their business houses.

The participants of this training found, this was life changing training for them and their business. As they reflected in the evaluation session they could able to see new world through this training. At the same time they deeply felt that their business has far more reliable scope for positive social transformation they ever thought before. All participants agreed that to develop the positive business culture for social benefits all segments of the society need to work together in fair competitive, collaborative and cooperative approach.
