8 Maxims on Being Humane resonate in 3 Scriptures

Here is a table with the rows in the first column containing the the 8 maxims common to all humanity which make people humane, while the second, third and fourth columns have the most resonating verses for the particular maxim from the Noble Quran, Holy Bible, and Hindu Scriptures respectively with the references cited at the end of each verse:

Always remember that you can grow without destroying others.

"And do not corrupt the earth after it has been set right. And fear Him [Allah ] with sincerity and devotion, and have longing for His forgiveness. Indeed, He is the Forgiving, the Merciful." (Quran, Surah Al-A'raf, 7:56)

"You shall not covet your neighbor's house; you shall not covet your neighbor's wife, or his male servant, or his female servant, or his ox, or his donkey, or anything that is your neighbor's." 1 (Exodus 20:17) 2

"One should not desire for oneself what he does not desire for others." (Manusmriti, Chapter 2, Verse 15)

Always remember that your dreams can be fulfilled without sabotaging others.

"And whoever does good deeds and is a believer - those will enter Paradise and will never be wronged a speck." (Quran, Surah Al-Kahf, 18:107)

"Let no one seek his own good, but the good of his neighbor." (1 Corinthians 10:24)

"May all beings look on me with an eye of friend, and may I do no harm to any living creature." (Yajur Veda 36.17)

Always remember that nobody must go down for you to rise.

"And do not oppress people in the earth without right and do not transgress [against them] exceeding the limit." (Quran, Surah Hud, 11:60)

"Whoever digs a pit will fall into it, and whoever sets a snare will be caught in it." (Proverbs 26:27)

"Let him not rejoice at the misfortune of another, though he may be an enemy. Let him not be excessively glad at any one's calamity." (Mahabharata, Anusasana Parva, Section 23, Verse 12)

Always remember that nobody must be shamed or embarrassed for your smile to be sustained.

"And insult not one another, and call not one another by evil nicknames. Wretched is the name of disobedience after faith." (Quran, Surah Al-Hujurat, 49:11)

"Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice." (Ephesians 4:31) 3

"Courtesy is the root of all virtue." (Chanakya sutra 2.13)

Always remember that while others are rising, you can also rise.

"And whoever strives for [good] strives for himself. And indeed, Allah is free from need of the worlds." (Quran, Surah An-Najm, 53:39)

"A rising tide lifts all boats." (Proverb)

"Seeing the happiness of others, one should feel happy oneself." (Hitopadesha, Mitra-Labha)

Always remember that finding satisfaction in the pain of others will never bring you true happiness.

"And let not the hatred of a people incite you to not be just." (Quran, Surah Al-Ma'idah, 5:8)

"Rejoice not when your enemy falls, and let not your heart be glad when he stumbles." (Proverbs 24:17)

"Let him not be envious of another's wealth, nor rejoice in another's misfortune." (Mahabharata, Santi Parva, Section 257, Verse 15)

Always remember that what you wish others is a prayer for yourself.

"And the recompense of evil is an evil like it, but whoever forgives and amends [the matter] will have his reward from Allah . Indeed, He does not love the wrongdoers." (Quran, Surah Shura, 42:40)

"Do to others as you would have them do to you." (Luke 6:31)

"If a man wishes that good should befall him, let him do good to others." (Hitopadesha, Sukrta-Kritah)

Become the good fire that genuinely lights up others, not one that ruins the joy, goodwill, and expectation of others.

*"You [who are believers] are the best nation produced for mankind. You enjoins what is right and forbid what is wrong and believe in Allah .

"Learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed. Take up the cause of the fatherless; plead the case of the widow." - Isaiah 1:17

"Dharma (righteousness) is that which sustains the world. It is the means by which living beings progress. Dharma is that which prevents injury to living beings." - Karna Parva, Mahabharata
