এক নারীর সাহসিকতার পরিচয়

আমি যখন পুরুলিয়াতে জব করি। একদিন একটি গ্রামে মহিলাদের স্বনির্ভরদল এর  সাথে কথা বলতে গিয়ে।এক ভদ্র মহিলা তার জীবনের একটা ঘটনা তুলে ধরে। তার শ্বশুর বাড়িতে মহিলাদেরকে বাইরে কোনো কাজে যাওয়া অনুমতি দেওয়া হত না, বাড়ির মহিলাদের কে শুধু বাড়ির ভিতরে থাকা হত, কিন্তু সে তার পরিবারের জন্য ও তার ছেলে মেয়ের ভালো ভবিষ্যৎ জন্য কিছু আয় করতে চাই। ভদ্র মহিলাটি তার পরিবারে কাওকে কিছু না বলে সে লুকিয়ে লুকিয়ে ট্রেনিং করতে যেতো, কিন্তু হঠাৎ একদিন তার পরিবারে সকলে জানতে পারে, তার শ্বশুর শাশুড়ি কাছ থেকে তাকে অনেক কথা শুনতে হল। স্বামী স্ত্রী মধ্যে প্রচুর ঝগড়া হয়, ঝগড়া করতে করতে তার স্বামী বউয়ের মাথাতে মারে, সে অজ্ঞান হয়ে পড়ে যায় তারপরে তাকে হসপিটালে ভর্তি করার হয়। ট্রেনির শেষ হতে আর মাত্র তিনদিন বাকি ছিল সে যদি আর বাকি  দিন ট্রেনিং না করে তাহলে সে সার্টিফিকেট পাবে না। ভদ্র মহিলাটি হসপিটালে অসুস্থ থাকার সত্তে ও সে হার মানে না এবং বাকি ৩ দিনের ট্রেনিং শেষ করতে পারে, এবং তাকে সার্টিফিকেট দেওয়া হয় তারপর থেকে তার স্বামী তাকে কোথাও যেতে বারণ করে না এবং তাকে সমস্ত কাজে সহযোগিতা করে।

During my time working in Purulia, I once visited a village to speak with a women's self-help group. There, a lady shared a personal incident from her life. In her in-laws' household, women were strictly forbidden from working outside the home; they were expected to remain confined within the house's four walls. However, she yearned to earn an income—both to support her family and to ensure a bright future for her children. Without breathing a word to anyone in her family, she began attending training sessions in secret. One day, however, her family members suddenly discovered her secret; consequently, she had to endure a barrage of harsh criticism from her in-laws. A massive argument ensued between the couple; in the heat of the altercation, her husband struck her on the head, causing her to lose consciousness and collapse. She was subsequently admitted to the hospital. Only three days remained until the completion of her training; had she failed to attend those final sessions, she would not have received her certificate. Despite her illness and hospitalization, the lady refused to give up; she managed to complete the remaining three days of training and was duly awarded her certificate. Since that day, her husband has never again forbidden her from going out to work, and he now extends his full support to her in all her endeavors.
