गिहारा समुदाय फुलवरिया महाराजगंज आठ लड़कियों ने काम करना शुरू किया

हमारे समुदाय के लोग किसी भी लड़की को बाहर काम करने के लिए नहीं भेजते थे ना तो उनको पढ़ने भेजते थे ना तो वह कोई काम कर सकती हैं उनका कहना था कि बाहर मत जाओ माहौल खराब है लोग सही नहीं है घर पर रहो घर के कम करो और इतनी ज्यादा रोकथाम थी कि कोई भी लड़की घर से बाहर काम करने के लिए नहीं जाती थी बहुत सारी लड़कियों के अंदर इच्छा थी कि मैं बाहर जाकर कोई काम करूं कोई नौकरी करूं लेकिन समुदाय के डर के कारण भी काम करने के लिए नहीं जाती थी और फिर ऐसा हुआ कि GFC के द्वारा हमने साल्ट को किया सबके साथ हमने किया और लड़कियों के साथ भी है साल्ट को किया और मैंने उनके अंदर यह बात देखी कि उनके अंदर इच्छा तो है काम करने की लेकिन समुदाय के डर के वजह से कोई नहीं करती है उसे साल्ट के दौरान उन्होंने बहुत अच्छी-अच्छी बातों को मेरे सामने शेयर किया उनके अंदर बहुत हिम्मत है बहुत साहसी है और मेहनती भी बहुत है,

फिर हमने उनसे बातचीत किया उनके फैमिली से भी हमने बातचीत किया साल्ट को लेकर फिर एक बार एक आदमी बाहर से हमारे यहां आया जो की जान पहचान का था उन्होंने पेट्रोल पंप का काम बताया तो कुछ लोग राजी थी लड़कियों को भेजने के लिए लेकिन कुछ लोग राजी नहीं थे लड़कियों ने खुद अपनी फैमिली से बातचीत किया कि हम काम करना चाहते हैं हमें इजाजत दीजिए कि हम भी कम करें हम भी अपने पैरों में खड़ा होना चाहते हैं हम दूसरों की भरोसे नहीं रहना चाहते हैं हम भी आगे बनना चाहते हैं हम भी चाहते हैं कि हम भी कुछ ना कुछ कमाई करें हम आपके भरोसे कब तक रहेंगे हम बड़े हो गए हैं हमें भी अब कुछ ना कुछ काम करना चाहिए और लड़कियों ने अपने माता-पिता से बातचीत किया और उसके बाद उन्होंने उनकी बातों को मन उनको समझा और उनको इजाजत दी अभी हमारे समुदाय से आठ लड़कियां पेट्रोल पंप में काम कर रही है,

Eight girls have now started working.

In our community, people never allowed any girl to work outside. They did not send them to study, nor did they think girls could do any kind of job. They used to say, “Don’t go outside, the environment is not good, people are not good. Stay at home and do household work.” There were so many restrictions that no girl ever went out to work.

Many girls had the desire to go out, do some work, or get a job, but because of fear of the community, they could not step forward.

Then, through GFC, we conducted SALT sessions with everyone, including the girls. During SALT, I noticed that the girls actually wanted to work, but the fear of the community was stopping them. They shared many good things during the discussions. They are courageous, brave, and very hardworking.

After that, we talked to them and also spoke with their families regarding SALT. Then one day, a man from outside—someone known to the community—came and told us about job openings at a petrol pump. Some families agreed to send their daughters, but some did not.

The girls themselves talked to their families and said:

“We want to work. Please give us permission to earn. We also want to stand on our own feet. We don’t want to depend on others. We want to move forward in life. We want to earn something. How long will we depend on you? We have grown up now and we should also do some work.”

After the girls spoke to their parents, they understood and allowed them to work.

Now, from our community, eight girls are working at the petrol pump.
