About Me:
I work with ADD International as a Programme Manager since February 2013. The firm works to support the disabled people organizations to strengthen the disability movement in 10 countries. We support the areas of education, economic empowerment, advocacy, gender and HIV/AIDS. Formerly, I worked with World Vision for almost 5 years from 1996/97 before joining Sokoine University for further studies and rejoined World Vision in 2002 after completing my bachelors degree. In 2005, I joined HelpAge International where I met Francien in Sukumaland. HelpAge International works with older people and their organizations to support the ageing movement. I left HelpAge during early 2013 to join ADD International. In my career I have done a number of facilitations, research and capacity building sessions to enhance both community capacities and that of local organizations. This includes preparing training and facilitation manuals. I have sound leadership experience both at public and private sector. I have done presentations and representation in communities, national and international level. I love networking and sharing as a way of improving my capacity and learning. I also work as a freelance consultant on advocacy issues, training and facilitation, resource mobilization and development of public and private sector development tools. I also do policy analysis in areas of ageing, disability, HIV/AIDS and agriculture. I believe this platform will enhance my learning and networking capacity through linking with other professionals.
My dream:
Living in a nation that appreciates people's diversity and learning; a community that supports such diversity through understanding of ageing and disability, HAVand AIDS, gender and development.
I'm proud of:
Working with marginalized groups, being a lead person in influencing my country policy in ageing to accommodate HIV and AIDS concerns of older people in the year 2009 to 2010 (read section 6.3 of the Tanzania 2010 HIV Policy) as well as being appointed to represent ageing and consumer welfare in Tanzania's National HIV and communication advisory committee as well as the National Consumers Advocacy Council both under the Ministry of Health and ministry of Industry and Trade respectively. I'm also proud to have researched and enhanced the capacity of more than 15 local NGOs in areas of resource mobilization, community mobilization and facilitation skills. I'm further proud to be a committed Tanzanian accountable to marginalized groups.
