I find Ning a more serious take on facebook. Also Ning has certain apps which facebook claims to have but they do not work. A very simple example was that recently I added a document on Facebook, it took ages to create this document on facebook. I received only one response. And when I reminded another colleague to look at it. He could not find it in the jumble of conversations. Presently, I consider that Facebook and Ning complement each other.
