In my Professional Studies on Men, it was discovered that the "Socialisation of Boys' can be the reason why they often "rage" then "murder"! Many Boys are forced to "suppress" their emotions by being told "Boys don't cry" and if they do cry they are called GIRLS. (Please read "From Angry Boys to Angry Men") Girls, on the other hand, are encouraged to express emotions. According to Sigmund Freud, the suppression of emotions has "dire" and "disastrous" consequences. Then there is Human Nature which also influences "behaviour"; In my studies of "Cultural Anthropology", it was revealed that "Homo Sapiens Sapiens" has the innate desire to dominate those who are perceived as "weak". Women are perceived as the "weaker vessel" so Men tend to dominate wherever they find females who live up to that "Mantra". More Women need to be STRONG!

Dear Mitu,

Why do you think that men are so violent with their wife, daughters, mothers?

What are the causes of these emotions? What trigger these emotions?

Thank you for sharing,

Laurence

It is very wise to know to defend yourself because it can save your life during "perilous" times! Even the Human Body is built with an "Immune System" that attacks "foreign bodies" when they enter the Body and attempt to destroy it! Our Brain quickly communicates that there is an attempt to harm the body thus activating the Body's Natural Defense System! So too must Women be VIGILANT!

If there is to be peace in the world, there must be peace in the nations. If there is to be peace in the nations, there must be peace in the cities. If there is to be peace in the cities, there must be peace between neighbors. If there is to be peace between neighbors, there must be peace in the home. If there is to be peace in the home, there must be peace in the heart.

Yes, This is a positive step. Martial arts training is also becoming very necessary here in Delhi where crime against women is increasing at a very fast pace. ! out of every 4 rapes in India, happen in Delhi.

In Delhi, many of the schools have started training students right from play school , some form of martial arts. Though I for one would have loved to hand over a world of love to my daughters, but i know that's a necessity. But then all children irrespective of gender are learning the martial arts.... so can the knowledge be later misused also to abuse ?????I do not know if I am talking sense.

Dr. Mitu I think it is now evident that Women must learn to defend themselves "physically" and should be willing to use Violence as a means to protecting thier lives! No longer can we sit "passively' while the MAN takes advantage of her! She must be willing to defend her life by "any means necessary" and let the chips fall where they may; no Man should be allowed to "use Physical "Violence against women and escape unharmed! If he knows that Harm will come to him, he will think twice! A Martial Arts instructor has offered to teach Women how to "fight back" here in Guyana and this is a "positive" step in helping ourselves!!!!!

Dear Nicole my heart really aches for you, but can understand your situation. I thought it is only in India, that such things happen. Somehow even female judges tend to disbelieve us when we talk about the abuse.

Not only that my husband has now filed for visitation rights and custody, and he may get them because he is still an accused. So many women go back to their abusive husbands , to protect their children being left alone with the abuser through court given orders.

furthermore so many women are forced to reconcile because she is left high and dry by the proceedings, and without money to fight the court cases.

But I also accept that abuse is without any Gender specific. Any gender can be the tormentor, while any Gender the abused. Still it is the females/transgenders etc who are more prone to violence.

My heart really cries everytime I hear that a rape victim has agreed to marry her rapist, to save her family honour, and the rapist offering to do so, to save himself from law.

Recently there was a news of a man chopping his wife into many pieces and storing the pieces in the refrigerator for days, after a court medication forced the woman to go back to her husband....

I wonder whats the solution to all this.

Its an exercise in "futility" to counsel a woman to return to her Husband when in most cases she is killed! When the "signs" of "death" are clear then its very important that the woman flee! I have survived a Soldier's wrath and many attempts to take my life by fighting through reports to the Police, to the Army Commanders and finally taking him to Court for a "Protection" and "Occupation" ORDER. Sadly after having my Ribs Bruised, my Upper Lip with twelve Stitches, my Neck choked until his nails left mark around my Throat, he was protected by the Justice System in Guyana which observed his "status" as a Soldier! I was accused of "lying" even though I had Hospital Records to prove my Injuries and was "arrested" by the Police after the Magistrate instructed them to arrest I; then my Lawyer told the Magistrate that if she had looked at the "EVIDENCE" she would see clearly the TRUTH! I was chased out of Court! What a TRAVESTY OF JUSTICE! Now as COMMISSIONER  on the Women and Gender Equality Commission I shall endeavour to have the Domestic Violence Act Amended so that Women who are "maimed" for life can receive WELFARE!

Can a Tigress be tamed? Women are the "Standard Bearers of Humanity" and deserves to be recognised, respected and rewarded for their ability to reproduce Human life! Violence against women is "Pandemic" and is now a PUBLIC HEALTH THREAT! Two Women were recently shot in Guyana and are fighting for their lives!!
