community peace starts from the household

Let's use this opportunity to talk about World peace which to me should start from our hearts, then in our individual households and then into our immediate communities.

Dear Ephraim, I do agree with what you say here. I experienced that only when there is peace in myself, I can start building peace with my close family members in a constructive way. How each person finds that peace in oneself will differ. There are different strategies to get there. 

 

I think in many cases, peace cannot be built because two people or parties jump straight to 'solutions' or strategies to solve the (potential) conflict. This should be the last step in my view. We first need to give the space to each person to express his/ her feelings and what that person is needing or seeking. The person might be angry and violent, because there is a need for safety or appreciation or consideration. Only when we start getting in touch with these needs, we start to better understand each other. Then the ground is made fertile for solutions or strategies to move forward. So it needs patience.
