Connecting local responses around the world
I am involved in a project - POSHAN (Nutrition) which aims to encourage evidence based knowledge mobilisation for key decision makers and programme planners.
As a part of the project we are struggling to unpack the terms in Knowledge Mobilisation. KM now though is widely acknowledge and finds place in many project formulations but the process of acquiring, access and use of knowledge seems to restricted.
As a part of the project we have to develop a Knowledge Mobilisation strategy. Before getting into as I dwell with many terms as Knowledge Brokering, Knowledge Management, Knowledge Facilitation....and so on. I would like to understand from members of this esteemed community
Members responses would greatly help in the project.
Good project and good questions...
Its nice to get the basics right befire initiating anything.
I feel, you should seek inputs from some competent professional, preferably from your area. Faculty (Pediatrics, Community Medicine, Nutrition) from institutions nearby may be a good resource.
With best wishes,

The emerging concept of "knowledge mobilization" may therefore be more useful than knowledge management or knowledge brokering. Knowledge mobilization addresses how external knowledge (outside of the organization) is sought out and combined with internal knowledge to create new knowledge that meets the needs of target users/clients. Knowledge mobilization emphasizes purpose (meeting the needs of clients) and looks to how one brings in the knowledge of others. It recognizes that organizing one's own intellectual capital does not necessarily lead to innovation or change; implicit in the concept is the need for working relationships with others. http://www.iisd.org/networks/coms/mobilization.asp
