The Norwegian Programme for Capacity Building in Higher Education and Research for development (NORHED) is a new programme launched by NORAD starting from 2013. NORHED seed funding aims to develop an application for a main NORHED project, within one of the NORHED sub-programmes.
The NORHED programme aims at strengthening capacities in higher education and research institutions to contribute to a more and better qualified workforce, increased knowledge, evidence-based policy and decision-making and enhanced gender equality with the ultimate goal of sustainable economic, social and environmental development in low and middle income countries (LMIC).
NORHED projects may encompass LMIC institutional capacity building elements like joint Norwegian-South research projects, Master and PhD education of staff, post-doc fellowships and administrative and infrastructure strengthening based on a needs assessment in the relevant country.
