About Me:
I live in Chennai. basically a philosopher and spiritual too.Married to another philosopher. I have one daughter who is doing her Ph.D in Environmental Science. I am working in the field of HIV and AIDS.
My dream:
To work with marginalised women. To see that equal opportunities are offered to every woman. I am striving to make this part of my life
My concern:
My aged parents whom I get to see not too often and who live 600km away from me.
I am also concerned about the extent of abuse on girl children and women. I am deeply concerned about infanticide and feoticide
I'm proud of:
My daughter, who does work in the deep forest and handles her problems as a woman.
What I think of Community Life Competence:
A good platform which brings like minded people together. It has given me the opportunity to share my experiences and learn from others.
What do I want to do to spread Community Life Competence?
Facilitate AIDS Competence in my community, Launch a facilitation team, Share about AIDS Competence with potential partners; friends; colleagues, I want to apply SALT in my own life (S: Stimulate; Support; A: Appreciate; L: Listen; Learn; Link; T: Transfer; Team)
The small secretariat of the Constellation also needs help. Do you want to help? I want to:
Develop blended learning, Share AIDS Competence with potential partners, Financial management skills

Fifty-two (four in…

Human capacities are the foundation of actions we take. This core capacity needs to be built through conscious and constant review, reflection, learning and practice. This is inclusive of processes to support, stimulate, appreciate, ask about the actions taken, listen, learn and link them with appropriate sources, work in teams and transfer learning from one community / organisation to others. This will enable capacity building not just within a particular organisation or constituency but with… Continue

Unconditional giving

Posted on February 13, 2009 at 11:00pm 5 Comments

It happened few months ago at Theni District of Tamil Nadu, India. A woman infected and in the last stages was admitted in a hospital here. The members of the association formed by women sex workers took turns to look after the ailing woman. They brought in freshly cooked food for her, fed her and cleaned her up. They sat with her in turns to cheer her up. They asked the woman's daughter, a young girl who lived in another district, to come and see her mother. The girl came in the morning and… Continue
