I am rural village born and i love the rural communities to become as well endowed as urban places. I am a teacher, writer, parent and student.
To see local languages in Busoga, Uganda and Africa take their right place in their speech communities, to empower and to liberate us during my life time.
Many people leave the rural communities and settle in urban communities because they believe that in town is where life is best. To the contrary, life is best where you put your best efforts. My concern therefore is that rural comunities are becoming poorer because the energetic youth and professional workers are moving away to work in places where the language of their education places them - English and Luganda are by far the languages used in the education and business sectors and as such people move to where they are spoken most. Lusoga and other lesser languages continue to suffer under this yoke.
I'm proud of:
Being a Musoga and being able to contribute in terms of writing and establishing communitiy libraries to teach all local and international languages without discrimination.
What I think of Community Life Competence:
Wonderful! I started using it in 2001 under the name of Community organising.
