About Me:
With the aspiration of becoming an International Youth Leader, Advocate and an icon for positive change, 24yr old Korey Chisholm sees himself as a global individual fully capable of forming solutions to global issues. He is a Guyanese native resident of the Caribbean family and renounces the title of a Third World individual.

As a Christian, he refuses to lower his standards of morality or compromise his faith and relationship with Jesus Christ for absolutely any reasons at all.

He is a very sociable and loving individual who is extremely devoted to the effective and consistent development of the young people. His aim is to efficiently and thoroughly impact the minds of young people, enabling them to see themselves as catalysts, to create significant change within their lives, homes, countries and by extension the world and thus activate and birth the talents, gifts and resources they naturally possess.

Korey hold CXC Passes and awards for global youth service 2006 and outstanding peer education and volunteer work 2005. Korey’s many achievements come mainly from his enthusiasm and love for volunteerism in youth development and leadership. He is currently a Special Youth Fellow for UNAIDS Special Youth Programme in Geneva, the projects assistant for GuyberNet (A global sustainable development information and training centre)in Guyana and a peer educator/counselor with local Non- Governmental Organizations in his country.

Over the past 5 years, Korey has served as the national focal point for Guyana on GYCA, community facilitator for EveryChild Guyana, an advocate for Commonwealth Youth Programme for positive living and volunteer as peer educator/counselor for young people, person in same sex relationships & sex workers. He has also served as the Chairperson of GuyberNet Youth Arm. Korey received training in youth leadership & development, appreciative inquiry, character building, regional governance, self-awareness & personal development, facilitation, identifying special educational needs, STI, HIV/AIDS education, performing arts, script writing & design.

It's Korey's belief, that ones purpose births his passions, and his passions determine his priorities. Any young person who has found there purpose, lives their passions and knows their priorities, is a young person that has truly empowered and will always succeed. Young people are the pulse of the nations, the heartbeat of the earth and hold the future of the world in their minds.
My dream:
Is to become a action leader and contribute my experiences and knowledge to other friends and peers. I also dream about developing a young sexual and gender minorities network in Guyana and a people Live with HIV Network.. These network will support and use their strengths to effect change for them selves and not depend on government or very organized groups. A place where inclusion of all and all are equal no matter their gender, sex, age or race even their education, but that they are respected for who they are as a human being. a place where the role of men and women is the same and they all see each other as key towards personal, community and professional development and love and care is the foundation for everything around.
I'm proud of:
My passion for development and community leadership. My personal strengths and zeal for volunteerism. the great leadership amongst the sex workers and other sexual and gender minorities on human rights and health in Guyana. i am most proud of who i have become and my actions to date.

Hi Korey. Just have to mention that I was truly impressed by your facilitation skills today! After 2 days of 'training' facilitating a self-assessment in such a flexible, human, but still structured way is truly remarkable. I learned from you today, especially how you adapted to the group and gave examples relevant for their context. It's clear you understand them well. Bravo!

    See you Saturday,
    Gaston

    Hi Korey,

Thanks for posting the photos of the dream building exercise with youth from the disability school. Do share more about this, what was the impact of this tool? In Mozambique the approach has been applied with people with disabilities and here in India Fr Joe just started with it.

Hope you will post some pictures of the current event with Gaston and Khun Usa. My greetings to the Guyana team.

    Warm regards,

    Rituu

    Dear Korey,

Good to have gotten your comment and great reply. You tend to talk more about Population; Are you into that? How can i become a Volunteer with the UN?

I admire you, cos you have loads of experience and i feel so honoured knowing you.

YCD and HCD are very related, except for the age bracket.

OVC are becoming more rampant in our communities(by HIV and Natural Death) and we have try curbing it with a tool Call Psycho-Social Support (PSS) with the help of Kids Club, Support Group/Play Group.

There is a programme called the Frontier Process(YCD), where 12 young people are gathered in a local community for 6weeks. To build Facilitation team, Stimulate emerging responses, Sharing of experience, capturing of lesson learnt, HIV responses and Thesis Writing.

    Happy Birthday.

Thanks and hope to hear from you.
