Child Club Interaction at Bhatpara – Nichhe Line

On 12th November 2025, an engaging Child Club interaction took place at Bhatpara – Nichhe Line, bringing together children from the community in a lively and educational session facilitated by Nityam Ghosh and youth member Mr. Gaurabh Oraon. The primary aim of the event was to create awareness about the critical issue of child marriage and its consequences, alongside fostering communication and teamwork among the children.

The main activity was a fun, learning-based game that creatively illustrated the effects of communication gaps. The children were divided into two groups lined up to play a game where each participant had to draw an image on the back of the person in front, passing the drawing forward to see how it transformed. This game not only entertained but also taught an important lesson about clear communication to avoid misunderstandings. Youth volunteer Gaurabh played a crucial role in organizing the enthusiastic children, guiding them to maintain order and enhancing the session’s success.

Following the games, the session turned to a vital discussion on child marriage. The facilitator asked the children if marrying early was a good practice. The unanimous response was a firm “No,” emphasizing that marriage before the legal age of 18 is not appropriate. Detailed explanations highlighted the challenges faced by those who marry young and the importance of completing education and becoming responsible adults first. The legal marriage ages—21 for girls and 23 for boys—were shared to reinforce the message. To empower the children, the Childline Helpline number (1098) was provided as a resource to report any incidents of child marriage within the community.

The session ended with an After Reflection (AR) feedback round where children and youth shared what they liked and what could be improved. Positive comments celebrated the fun and engaging nature of the activities, with several children noting it was their first time playing such games. Suggestions included adding more games and inviting a larger group for future sessions, reflecting a strong desire for ongoing learning and participation.

In conclusion, the Child Club interaction was a resounding success, marked by enthusiastic participation, effective facilitation, and meaningful learning. The leadership shown by Gaurabh from Bhatpara – Nichhe Line helped maintain discipline and smooth running of activities. Importantly, the children left with increased awareness about

communication, teamwork, and the crucial issue of preventing child marriage, empowered with knowledge and support resources to protect their futures. This event stands as a shining example of community-driven efforts to educate and uplift children in rural India.
