A generational dialogue was held between these two father and son. Though their opinions differed, it led to a meaningful and insightful discussion. Both expressed deep concerns about the career paths of today’s youth. They observed that many youngsters are currently engaged only in painting work, but should be exploring other career opportunities as well.
During the conversation, the topic of the stock market came up. Pratap expressed that today's youth struggle to find jobs because employers demand experience. But without being given a job, how will they gain that experience? Out of frustration, he himself started working in the stock market. He believes that young people should study and explore this field seriously.
His father, however, felt that the stock market is risky, and instead, youth should pursue stable and structured jobs. In response, Pratap pointed out that many young people today are unemployed because of the pressure from their parents. This pressure confuses them about what they truly want to pursue, sometimes pushing them into failure and, tragically, even towards suicide. He believes that parents are often responsible for this state. Instead, parents should give their children at least five years of freedom and support, during which both should work together with mutual understanding.
His father added that children should also try to understand the perspective of their parents when choosing a career path. Parents don’t always give wrong advice, but he acknowledged that today’s youth lack patience and tolerance.
They concluded with an important point: Villages need access to new and diverse career opportunities, so that rural youth are not limited to a single type of job. This would encourage them to explore alternative paths and actively pursue them.
