A few months ago, SALT-related work had started in Vashi village. After discussions with Ritu Nanda, a decision was made to halt the SALT activities there. However, today, when Shahrukh and Jayashree visited with the children, we discussed their plans for future work. The children came together for a group discussion and drafted a plan for activities to be implemented in January 2025, based on the dreams they envision for Vashi village. They specifically brainstormed ideas on how various activities could be organized during festival seasons.

Generally, when we work in a village, we plan based on the needs we perceive and try to implement them. However, often the true needs of the villagers are not understood. But today, the children themselves presented a small yet impactful plan. They thoughtfully decided that festivals could be used as an opportunity to organize various activities, which would bring the village together and foster a sense of community.

It was heartening to see that these children, connected through the SALT approach, have now begun working for their village's development with mutual support. Through SALT, they have realized their strengths and learned how to use them effectively.

The Avani organization will undoubtedly support these children in their upcoming initiatives and encourage them. This initiative will not only give wings to their dreams but also provide a positive direction for the village's overall development.

This plan, though simple, reflects their sincere efforts and understanding of their community's needs. It showcases their capacity to dream collectively and take the first step toward realizing those dreams. With proper guidance and support, this plan can transform into impactful actions and bring about positive change in the village. This is the same village where Ritu Nanda and Tiyas had previously met with the Gram Panchayatm embers.
