About Me:
I am Mehmood Bhatti, leading the arts team within the NIHR-funded PIECEs program at IRD Pakistan. My professional journey is a unique fusion of art, mental health, and social transformation. Armed with a Bachelor's degree in Humanities from the University of Karachi, I have seamlessly blended my expertise as a public health professional with my inherent creativity as an artist.

With over 25 years of experience, I have strategically orchestrated art-based interventions targeting critical areas such as HIV, mental health, TB, and sexual and reproductive health. My commitment to instigating meaningful social change has been a driving force throughout my career.

In my current role, I actively curate and implement a diverse array of community involvement initiatives under the PIECEs program. These initiatives include Theatre of the Oppressed performances, visual arts, and capacity-building programs—all meticulously designed to spark positive transformations within communities.

Under the mental health umbrella, I strongly believe in the power of creative methodologies. My dedication lies in enhancing emotional and psychological well-being, fostering greater social inclusion, and encouraging community engagement, particularly among individuals grappling with severe mental illnesses.
My dream:
To harness the power of art and creativity for positive change in mental health and social transformation. With a foundation in public health and over 25 years of experience, my dream is to implement targeted interventions within innovative programs. Through initiatives like Theatre of the Oppressed and visual arts, I aim to catalyze meaningful community transformations. At the core of my dream is a commitment to enhancing emotional well-being and fostering social inclusion, especially among those dealing with severe mental illnesses.
I'm proud of:
Creating impactful and immersive theatrical experiences.
Nurturing a vibrant and collaborative creative community.
Contributing to the cultural enrichment of audiences.
Exploring innovative and thought-provoking storytelling techniques.
Fostering connections and dialogue through the medium of theater.
Developing and showcasing diverse talents within the theatrical realm.
Inspiring and engaging audiences through powerful performances.
Pushing boundaries and challenging the conventional in my craft.
Collaborating with fellow practitioners to bring unique visions to life.
Continuously evolving and refining my skills as a theater professional.
