Salt-visit at Worldhouse in Amsterdam, November 6th 2017

During the visit I liked a lot the conversation I had with a woman who was colouring a mandala. I started talking to her in English (because we were talking English with the men). It turned out that she was speaking excellent Dutch. I didn't know if that is her mother tongue. What I realized: I automatically spoke English to her because that was the mode I was in.

Learning point in a situation like the Worldhouse: don't make assumptions. Ask!

Learning point 2: I asked her if she had er own place to live. She has that. In a way I was surprised because I had the assumption that only refugees came to the Worldhouse.

For me asking the question 'what is your dream' felt a little dangerous. Maybe it is better to ask the group: what is your dream rather than individuals.

Remark: this text was a part of reflections during the Salt online-course and seems a bit 'hanging loose' here. I was asked to post it and since the experience was a little while ago, I chose not to make moderations or add text to it.
