PEYM PET and VCT & CLCP roll out Conference Hall of Barangay Bagong Silang Caloocan City January 14-15, 2011

We Peer Educators Youth Movement (PEYM) initiate and organized a Peer educators Training and Voluntary Counseling and Testing in our community (Barangay Bagong Silang, Caloocan City, Philippines).

We mobilize resources through the help of Barangay Officials, staffs on health and SK’s; they provided venue and foods for day one. Participants used their own money as transportation. Caloocan Social Hygiene Clinic Physician allots a time to visit, share and conduct VCT in our first day sessions. As our mother organization, PAMACQ planned to integrate CLCP in our activity, so we decided to extend and inform our participants to come back tomorrow for CLCP roll out. Barangay are also agreed that we have to use the venue provided by them and come back for tomorrow sessions. Pinoy Competence provides foods and transportation of participants for the second day. PAMACQ and PEYM contributed materials that we could use for the training and assisted in facilitating the learning activities for two days.

For the second day participants shares and identified their concerns and act they dreams for their community. We at PEYM take their dreams and consider their concerns to contribute in our plan. At the end participants decided to joined PEYM and be part of our advocacy on HIV and AIDS.

After organizing for two days that makes us tired but very fun and having happy moments consist of funny jokes from participants, we successfully made a dream and self-assessment for participants and made our plan as PEYM. Addition to that we had new members recruited. We are looking forward to develop and made our PEYM self-assessment and act our PEYM dreams.

Dear Ton-ton,

Congratulations!  I hope this is the beginning of a more meaningful engagement of PEYM, young people, barangay officials, health workers.  I also wish PEYM will grow and be recognized as the lead organization in Caloocan working on the prevention of HIV/AIDS issue.  I am especially proud how you mobilized your own resources and used external resources as a means to supplement what you have already.  I think this is a product of thinking the CLCP way!, I hope the dreams and the plans you made based on your self-assessment, will be realized.  Let us know how PinoyC can assist you.
