"Jean-Louis, let’s write together the Universal Declaration of the Right to Dream! " says Hakim after he participated in a group work at the workshop on the development of AIDS Competence organized in Casablanca by the Constellation. The question was simple: "We are in 2025. Everyone talks about the success of Morocco in the fight against AIDS. Describe in 10 sentences what Moroccans do to succeed." Hakim is radiant. "We haven’t dreamt for so long. We are so busy! Always in demand! Thank you for having organized this time for us to dream." The next morning, we developed together ten strategies that will transform our vision into reality. That’s how was born the framework for the self-assessment of AIDS Competence in Arabic.

It was in December 2010. Since then I have not stopped thinking about the statement, and today Hakim’s words proved prophetic. Millions of Arabs are willing to die to pursue their dreams of a better life. It has been 40 or 50 years that totalitarian regimes have deprived their citizens of their ability to dream, perhaps paralyzed by fear. Today, they say aloud their right to pursue their dreams.

And we, in Europe, do we still dare to dream? What future do we imagine for our future generations? Is our thought also paralyzed? Is not it time we release ourselves from our fears of rich, namely that of others and that of losing our possessions? Can we free ourselves from the illusion that our society would be ideal? Can accept that to live better, we will need to live together differently?

Hakim, let's write this statement, and most importantly, let’s put it into practice!
