Manisha,

This is a very nice example of the community taking action. What I like about it is that the action leads to more actions. If we have taken action to find out about our personal situation with regard to hypertension or diabetes, then the results challenge us to take another action. If the result is good, how do we continue with that situation? If the result is less good, what do we need to do to improve the situation? In both cases the result leads to a conversation that…

Rituu they have realized that instead of waiting for others to come and give them solutions for their problems they have to take the ownership e.g one of the patient said that some of them were suffering from Diabetes and Hypertension but were not aware of the fact.
Very true Marlou. Letting go is not easy for professionals. As HealthRise is going to end after two months, PSG started taking the ownership, now they are prepared for our exit. Even after this project gets over they will keep on working for non communicable diseases. HealthRise staff is very happy to see the sustainability of its work.

Congratulations for the good work, Manisha. And thank you for sharing! 'Letting go' is often not easy for professionals. What makes that Healthrise staff feel comfortable to put responsibality for organising to the patient groups?
