<p>The book talks about participatory research and how local people can generate their own numbers – and the statistics that result are powerful for themselves and can influence policy. Jeremy shares an example from Malawi where the communities were able to correctly estimate the population of Malawi whereas the official records had underestimated it by 25%.</p>
