The After Experience Reflection (AER) process has truly helped me to reorganize and improve the way I plan and conduct programs. Through this approach, I can clearly identify the gaps in my work and highlight key issues that need attention before setting up a new program.
I first learned about AER from the ARC initiative, and it has brought a real change in how I organize my activities. Now, I don’t use this process only for organisation's programs — I apply it in almost every situation. After every event, I always ask the group a simple question:
“What went well, and what could we do better next time?”
This small practice has created a culture of open sharing. Everyone contributes their opinions, and these reflections help us design our next programs more effectively.
Let me share an example. We once organized a dissemination program in one of our indigenous operational areas. At the end of the session, we asked the community the same two questions — what they liked about the program and what could be improved. Their feedback was very insightful. They suggested:
1. Organize the program according to the community’s convenient time.
2. Share the agenda in advance.
3. Clearly assign and communicate each person’s responsibility in the program.
We followed these points during our next program, and the result was remarkable — it became much more effective and well-organized than before.
I truly appreciate GFC for introducing me to this valuable process. AER has not only enhanced my work performance but also built my capacity to think, learn, and grow continuously.

Such an inspiring reflection! It’s amazing how the AER process has helped you create a culture of learning and openness while making your programs more effective.
What a great example on application of using AER for reflection. Thanks Bappa! I look forward to more of your blogs
